HULU SELANGOR, 20 JUN 2026 - The Selangor state government, through Invest Selangor, has brought together investors, local entrepreneurs and industry players in Hulu Selangor to drive business matching, career opportunities and stronger local economic participation through the second edition of its Local Business Connect programme

The Selangor state government, through Invest Selangor, has organised the Local Business Connect (LBC) Hulu Selangor Series 2 programme, bringing together approximately 200 participants comprising entrepreneurs, investors and industry players to explore business collaboration opportunities and career development.

Held in Hulu Selangor on 20 June 2026, the programme forms part of the state’s wider effort to strengthen linkages between investors, local businesses and surrounding communities, ensuring that investment growth translates into tangible economic opportunities and employment for the people of Selangor.

Building on the Success of LBC Series 1

The latest edition follows the success of LBC Series 1, which was held at Dewan Raja Muda Musa, Shah Alam on 12 February 2026. The first instalment of the programme attracted more than 290 participants for business and career matching sessions.

The earlier event also delivered encouraging employment outcomes, with 71 job seekers invited to attend second-stage interviews and 25 individuals securing employment on the same day.

With the second series now taking place in Hulu Selangor, the initiative continues to expand its reach by creating stronger connections between local communities and companies operating or investing in different parts of the state.

Connecting Investors, Industry Players and Local Entrepreneurs

The core objective of the Local Business Connect programme, particularly in Hulu Selangor, is to connect investor companies, industry players and local entrepreneurs through networking opportunities and business matching sessions.

The initiative is aligned with the Selangor state government’s commitment to ensure that incoming investments generate wider benefits for local communities, not only through business opportunities but also by opening pathways to jobs, partnerships and enterprise development.

By creating a platform where investors and local businesses can engage directly, the programme is designed to help entrepreneurs better position themselves to participate in supply chains, service delivery and commercial partnerships linked to investment projects in the district.

Strategic Collaboration Across Public and Business Agencies

The programme was organised with strategic support from several agencies and institutions, including PERKESO, Majlis Perbandaran Hulu Selangor (MPHS), Yayasan Hijrah Selangor, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Malaysia.

This multi-agency collaboration reflects a broader ecosystem approach to local economic development, combining business matching, employment facilitation, entrepreneurship support and access to advisory services under one platform.

Career Opportunities and Employment Support for Residents

In addition to business matching activities, PERKESO also organised a Career Day as part of the programme, offering a range of employment opportunities for residents of Hulu Selangor and surrounding areas.

The career-focused component included career talks, job advisory services and a resume review clinic, aimed at helping job seekers improve their employability while connecting them with companies looking to hire.

This dual focus on entrepreneurship and employment reinforces the programme’s role as both a business development platform and a community-focused economic initiative.

Four Key Companies Join Business Matching Sessions

Four major companies took part in the business matching sessions during LBC Hulu Selangor Series 2:

  • Linergy Power Sdn. Bhd.
  • PHN Industry Sdn. Bhd.
  • Sipro Plastic Industries Sdn. Bhd.
  • Chery Auto Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.

These companies are currently involved in the development, expansion and strengthening of their operations in Hulu Selangor, and are expected to create further business opportunities for local entrepreneurs as their presence in the district grows.

Their participation highlights the role of the programme in connecting established investors with smaller local businesses that may be able to support their operations through products, services or future partnerships.

Ensuring Investment Benefits Reach Local Communities

According to Dato’ Hasan Azhari bin Haji Idris, investment growth in Selangor is not only driving the state economy, but also opening up more employment opportunities for the people.

Through initiatives such as Local Business Connect, he said, the state government wants to ensure that local communities benefit directly from the development and investments taking place, particularly in districts such as Hulu Selangor.

The programme reflects Selangor’s wider strategy of linking investment promotion with inclusive economic participation, so that the benefits of industrial and commercial expansion are felt more directly by local businesses, workers and job seekers.

Invest Selangor’s Role in Driving State Investment Growth

Invest Selangor is the Selangor state government’s investment promotion agency, responsible for facilitating business growth and investment opportunities in what is widely regarded as one of Malaysia’s most advanced and competitive states.

As a one-stop centre, Invest Selangor provides advisory services, market information and facilitation support to both domestic and international investors seeking to establish or expand operations in Selangor, which serves as a strategic gateway to the ASEAN market.

Since 1999, Invest Selangor has successfully attracted more than 7,069 manufacturing projects, contributing to 508,316 job opportunities and recording investment value of more than RM256.6 billion.

The agency also organises key business platforms such as the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) and the Selangor Aerospace Summit (SAS), which bring together industry leaders, policymakers and entrepreneurs from across ASEAN and beyond.

Supporting a More Inclusive and Resilient Selangor Economy

Through initiatives such as Local Business Connect, Invest Selangor continues to position investment not only as a driver of state growth, but as a catalyst for broader local economic participation.

By connecting investors with entrepreneurs, facilitating job opportunities and working closely with strategic partners, the agency aims to help build a more resilient, inclusive and innovation-led Selangor economy—while reinforcing the state’s standing as one of the region’s leading investment destinations.
