PETALING JAYA, 12 JUNE 2026 - New distributor introduces EURO V-compliant prime movers, tippers and cement mixers while strengthening local assembly and aftersales support through strategic partnerships

Dongfeng Heavy Industries Sdn Bhd has officially launched its operations in Malaysia, marking its entry into the local commercial vehicle market with the introduction of a comprehensive range of heavy-duty trucks designed for the transport, haulage and construction sectors.

The launch, held in Petaling Jaya, also saw the company sign a purchase agreement with Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles for 200 truck units, underscoring its commitment to expanding the brand’s presence in Malaysia and meeting growing demand for reliable commercial transport solutions.

Expanding Dongfeng’s Presence in Malaysia

Dongfeng Heavy Industries was appointed as the official distributor of Dongfeng trucks in Malaysia late last year and will operate from its headquarters in Jalan Meru, Klang. Led by industry veteran Quek Wang, Executive Director of Dongfeng Heavy Industries, the company aims to provide a broad portfolio of heavy-duty vehicles tailored to the needs of local transport operators.

The initial line-up comprises a range of prime movers, tippers and cement mixers, offering customers versatile solutions across different commercial applications.

Representing Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles, Wang Long, Chairman of the Board and Party Secretary of China Dongfeng Motor Industry Import & Export Co Ltd, congratulated the Malaysian team on the official opening and reaffirmed Dongfeng’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the country.

He noted that the milestone reflects Dongfeng’s ongoing efforts to enhance customer support and aftersales services while expanding its reach within the Malaysian market.

Comprehensive Range of Heavy-Duty Trucks

During the launch event, Dongfeng Heavy Industries showcased a selection of 4×2 and 6×4 prime movers, 6×4 and 8×4 tippers, as well as 6×4 cement mixers.

According to Quek, the various models have been selected to complement one another and address the diverse operational requirements of transport and logistics companies.

“We understand the concerns of transport companies and thus have decided to introduce this latest generation of Dongfeng heavy-duty trucks,” he said.

He added that the vehicles comply with EURO V emission standards and utilise proven engine and drivetrain technologies from established manufacturers.

The trucks will be imported as completely knocked down (CKD) units and assembled locally in Malaysia.

Strategic Assembly Partnership with Gemilang Coachwork

A key highlight of the launch was the signing of an assembly agreement between Dongfeng Heavy Industries and Gemilang Coachwork Sdn Bhd, which will serve as the company’s local assembly partner.

Quek described the Johor-based company as uniquely positioned to support Dongfeng’s growth ambitions in Malaysia, citing its extensive manufacturing expertise, advanced production capabilities and stringent quality control standards.

Gemilang Coachwork Director Pang Jun Jie said the company’s experience in vehicle assembly, systems integration and regulatory compliance makes it well suited to transform CKD units into market-ready commercial vehicles for Malaysian customers.

The partnership is expected to strengthen local production capabilities while ensuring consistent build quality across Dongfeng’s commercial vehicle range.

Focus on Reliability and Aftersales Support

Dongfeng’s reputation for durability has played a significant role in its global expansion. The brand, one of China’s largest and most established truck manufacturers, has built a strong presence across Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America through its focus on engineering reliability and operational efficiency.

Quek highlighted the rugged design and construction of Dongfeng trucks, expressing confidence in their ability to deliver high levels of uptime for commercial operators.

To further support customers, Dongfeng Heavy Industries plans to establish workshops in strategic locations throughout Malaysia. These service centres will be required to meet strict operational standards and provide mobile rescue services to minimise vehicle downtime.

The company believes that prompt support and reliable aftersales service are critical factors for transport operators, where every hour off the road can affect business performance.

Supporting Malaysia’s Transport and Logistics Industry

The launch of Dongfeng Heavy Industries represents another step in the development of Malaysia’s commercial vehicle sector, providing transport and haulage operators with additional options for fleet expansion and renewal.

By combining Dongfeng’s proven commercial vehicle technology with local assembly expertise and an emphasis on customer support, the company aims to deliver durable and cost-effective transport solutions for businesses nationwide.

With a growing product portfolio, strategic partnerships and plans to strengthen its aftersales network, Dongfeng Heavy Industries is positioning itself as a long-term player in Malaysia’s heavy-duty truck market.
