KUALA LUMPUR, 21 AUGUST 2026 - Eighth edition of MBFWKL brings together 19 Malaysian and regional designers, while Mercedes-Benz unveils the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series.

Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Kuala Lumpur (MBFWKL) 2026 returns to The Exchange TRX from 21 to 23 August, bringing together fashion, automotive design and contemporary luxury under the theme ‘Welcome to Couture. Welcome to Beyond.’

Now in its eighth edition, MBFWKL continues to evolve beyond a traditional fashion event into a broader celebration of modern luxury, craftsmanship and creative expression. This year’s showcase brings together some of Malaysia and the region’s foremost and emerging designers, alongside the unveiling of the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series.

The event reflects Mercedes-Benz’s long-standing focus on craftsmanship, innovation and design, while highlighting the shared qualities between automotive and fashion design.

Where automotive excellence meets fashion

As Mercedes-Benz celebrates 140 Years of Innovation, the brand continues to evolve its approach to vehicle design and technology around the people who experience them, redefining luxury, comfort and mobility.

MBFWKL 2026 extends this philosophy into the world of fashion, where individuality, distinctive aesthetics, attention to detail and uncompromising quality are equally central.

The runway therefore becomes an extension of the Mercedes-Benz design philosophy — honouring heritage while continually looking towards what comes next.

“As Mercedes-Benz celebrates 140 Years of Innovation, Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Kuala Lumpur is a natural platform to celebrate what it means to lead with vision,” said Martin Schulz, CEO & President, Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia & Head of Region, Mercedes-Benz Cars Southeast Asia.

He said the theme, ‘Welcome to Couture. Welcome to Beyond.’ reflects the brand’s movement into a new chapter while remaining rooted in craftsmanship, heritage and its pioneering spirit.

“The unveiling of the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series alongside Malaysia’s finest designers brings this philosophy to life. It is a powerful expression of how true luxury is never static; it evolves, pushes boundaries, and redefines what is possible,” he added.

Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series takes centre stage

One of the highlights of MBFWKL 2026 is the anticipated Malaysian appearance of the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, which offers guests an opportunity to experience the latest expression of open-top luxury from Mercedes-Maybach.

The model retains the SL’s open-air character while incorporating Mercedes-Maybach’s signature design, craftsmanship, refinement and exclusivity.

Its distinctive Monogram pattern, elegant proportions and luxurious interior reflect the brand’s approach to automotive artistry, with every detail contributing to an experience centred on exclusivity.

“The new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series embodies the essence of Maybach through its exclusive design, open-top character, and exceptional attention to detail,” said Nadia Trimmel, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia.

She added that presenting the model at MBFWKL 2026 was a fitting celebration of the connection between haute couture and automotive design, where craftsmanship and attention to detail shape the overall experience.
