SHAH ALAM, 7 AUGUST 2026 - SME Malaysia’s charity golf event combines business networking, entrepreneurship and community support, raising awareness for three organisations while strengthening connections across the SME ecosystem.

The SME International Charity Golf 2026 brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs, sponsors, partners and members of the SME Association of Malaysia (SME Malaysia) for a day of sportsmanship, networking and community contribution at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club in Shah Alam.

The event was graced by Guest of Honour YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr.) Soh Thian Lai, President Emeritus of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), alongside distinguished guests, sponsors, partners, SME Malaysia members and golfers.

More than a sporting and networking event, the charity golf initiative carried a strong charitable purpose, with support extended to three organisations:

  • Lembaga Pengurus SRJK (C) Sam Yoke
  • Pertubuhan Kebajikan Orang Tua Shan Xing
  • Tabung Kebajikan Pesakit Hospital TABTAR, Hospital Pakar Kanak-Kanak UKM

Combining business networking with community impact

Welcoming guests at the event, Niki Lan May Khay, Organising Chairlady of the SME International Charity Golf 2026, said the event provided an opportunity to bring the business community together through sports, networking and meaningful connections.

She expressed her appreciation to the sponsors, partners, supporters, golfers, organising committee and volunteers for their valuable contributions and participation, noting that their support was instrumental to the success of the event.

Niki also highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for collaboration and positive impact within the community, reflecting SME Malaysia’s belief that success should extend beyond business achievements.

Golf as a platform for business relationships

Speaking at the event, Dr Chin Chee Seong, National President of SME Association of Malaysia, said the significance of the Charity Golf went beyond the game itself, creating an opportunity for the business community to build relationships while contributing to society.

“Today’s event is about much more than golf. It is about bringing people together. In business, many opportunities don’t begin in a boardroom. They begin through conversations, friendships and trust,” Dr Chin said.

He added that golf also reflected important values applicable to business, including patience, discipline, resilience and integrity. He noted that success is built through consistency, continuous improvement and the determination to move forward.

The charitable purpose of the event further reflected SME Malaysia’s belief that business success should create a positive impact beyond commercial achievements.

“True business success is not measured only by revenue or growth, but also by the positive impact we create for others,” Dr Chin said.

Strengthening Malaysia’s SME ecosystem

The event also served as a platform for business leaders and entrepreneurs to strengthen existing relationships, establish new connections and exchange ideas in an informal setting.

Through initiatives such as the Charity Golf, SME Malaysia continues to create platforms that connect businesses, encourage collaboration and contribute to the wider community.

For more than three decades, SME Malaysia has remained committed to supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening the SME ecosystem through business forums, networking events, trade missions, training programmes and other initiatives that create opportunities for businesses to collaborate and grow.

The SME International Charity Golf 2026 reflects this continued commitment — bringing the business community together not only to build stronger connections, but also to give back and create a positive impact in society.
