TP-Link Distribution Malaysia Sdn Bhd (TP-Link Malaysia) has partnered with Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah (UniSHAMS) to strengthen Malaysia’s technology talent pipeline and prepare students for the country’s digital future.
Formalised through a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the partnership aims to bring UniSHAMS’ academic community closer to the technology industry, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration between industry professionals and academics.
The initiative forms part of TP-Link Malaysia’s wider efforts to develop a sustainable ecosystem for technology talent by connecting education with real-world industry needs.
Students to Gain Industry Exposure and Practical Experience
Under the partnership, UniSHAMS students will gain greater exposure to the technology sector through workshops, short courses and internship opportunities.
These activities will complement their academic studies with practical experience, helping students develop skills relevant to the evolving demands of the technology industry.
The collaboration will also combine TP-Link Malaysia’s industry expertise with UniSHAMS’ academic capabilities to support research in areas of shared interest.
TP-Link Malaysia Regional Director Cai Zhenbiao, also known as Hugo Cai, said developing technology talent at scale required sustained collaboration between institutions to connect education more closely with technological advancements and industry needs.
He added that UniSHAMS’ inclusion in TP-Link Malaysia’s university network marked another step towards building an ecosystem in which industry and academia could work together to prepare the technology professionals Malaysia would need in the future.
Preparing Graduates for a Changing Technology Industry
UniSHAMS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Amy Azhar bin Dato’ Haji Mohd Harif said the capabilities expected of graduates would continue to evolve alongside technological advancements.
He emphasised the importance of equipping students not only for current industry requirements, but also with the ability to keep learning, adapt and respond to future changes.
Through the partnership, UniSHAMS aims to broaden learning opportunities beyond the classroom while enabling students and academics to engage more closely with industry and contribute to meaningful research.
Expanding Access to Networking Technologies and Professional Certification
Across its growing university network, TP-Link Malaysia has introduced students to its Omada enterprise networking technologies and the Omada Certified Network Associate (OCNA) certification pathway.
These initiatives provide greater exposure to industry-relevant networking technologies and professional skills, helping students build knowledge that can support their future careers.
As its academic network expands, TP-Link Malaysia aims to deepen the relationship between education and industry, strengthening the foundation for the next generation of technology professionals in Malaysia.
