Sarawak entrepreneur Aaron Nagai has launched PetrolPrice, an AI-powered fuel intelligence platform designed to track, verify and analyse energy prices across 196 markets worldwide.
The Malaysian startup is backed by Balaji Srinivasan, Founder of Network School and former Chief Technology Officer of Coinbase, through the Balaji Fund. Following its pre-seed funding round, PetrolPrice has been valued at US$2 million.
AI-Powered Platform Tracks Global Fuel Prices
Founded by Nagai, PetrolPrice is an AI-powered energy intelligence platform that monitors the prices of essential energy commodities around the world, including petrol, diesel and electricity.
The platform combines artificial intelligence with automated data collection to make energy price information more transparent and accessible to consumers, businesses and policymakers.
By tracking fuel prices across 196 markets, PetrolPrice aims to provide a centralised source of global energy pricing information and help users better understand changes in the cost of essential energy commodities.
Making Energy Pricing More Transparent
Fuel prices have a direct impact on consumers, businesses and economies worldwide, yet energy pricing information can be fragmented across different markets and sources.
Nagai said PetrolPrice is being developed to address this challenge by making global energy pricing data more accessible.
“Fuel prices influence the daily lives of billions of people, yet global pricing data remains fragmented and difficult to access,” said Aaron Nagai, Founder of PetrolPrice. “We’re building the world’s most comprehensive energy intelligence platform, making energy pricing as accessible and transparent as financial market data.”
The platform’s use of AI and automated data collection is intended to simplify access to energy market information while enabling users to track and analyse fuel and electricity prices across different markets.
Backed by Silicon Valley Investor Balaji Srinivasan
PetrolPrice has secured backing from Balaji Srinivasan, a prominent technology investor, entrepreneur and former Chief Technology Officer of Coinbase, through the Balaji Fund.
Srinivasan is also the Founder of Network School and has backed a number of high-growth technology startups through the Balaji Fund, including OpenSea, Luma and Polymarket, alongside companies building on major blockchain ecosystems such as Ethereum, Solana and Polygon.
The investment provides international backing for PetrolPrice as the Malaysian startup develops its global energy intelligence platform.
Malaysian AI Startup Targets Global Impact
The launch of PetrolPrice also highlights Malaysia’s growing ambitions in artificial intelligence, technology and digital innovation.
By developing globally focused technology from Malaysia, PetrolPrice aims to demonstrate that local entrepreneurial and technology talent can build products for international markets.
The startup’s global focus also reflects the growing potential of Malaysia’s startup ecosystem, as local companies seek to attract international investment while developing technology with applications beyond the domestic market.
With its focus on AI-powered energy intelligence and global fuel price data, PetrolPrice aims to establish itself as a technology platform that makes energy pricing information more accessible to users around the world.
