More than 150 local entrepreneurs across Pahang are now better equipped to sell beyond Malaysia’s borders, thanks to the Digital Literacy and E-Commerce Outreach Programme held in Kuantan under the Cross-Border E-Commerce Development Programme (eBizLink).
Jointly organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) in collaboration with the Pahang State Government, the State Economic Planning Division (BPEN) and the Pahang State Development Corporation (PKNP), the event exceeded its initial target of 100 participants. Strategic partners DHL Express and Export Overseas Academy also lent their support to the initiative.
Equipping Entrepreneurs for the Digital Economy
The one-day programme featured in-depth briefings on cross-border e-commerce, international logistics, and hands-on guidance for entrepreneurs looking to establish themselves on global online platforms.
Participants also heard success stories from two inspiring Pahang entrepreneurs — Asmah Abdullah of VIAS Food Sdn Bhd and Nur Rafidah Man, founder of the Jungle Girl brand — who have successfully expanded their local businesses internationally through digital platforms.
Pahang’s Push Towards a Global Entrepreneurial Ecosystem
According to YB Dato’ Amizar Abu Adam, Chairman of the Pahang State Committee on FELDA Affairs, Cooperatives, and Entrepreneurship, the strong turnout reflects growing interest among local entrepreneurs in leveraging digital marketing strategies.
“This programme provides crucial exposure to digital technologies, especially in cross-border marketing. It enables local products to reach not just the domestic market but the global stage,” he said during the Digital Literacy Pahang 2025 Closing Ceremony in Kuantan.
Dato’ Amizar also reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to strengthening Pahang’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. This year, Pahang has allocated funds for various initiatives — including the Pahang 1st Carnival — to promote local products internationally through collaboration with state agencies.
Cross-Border E-Commerce: A Game-Changer for SMEs
YBrs. Mansor Shah Wahid, Deputy CEO (Exporters Development) of MATRADE, highlighted that cross-border e-commerce is opening new doors for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) seeking cost-effective international expansion.
“Entrepreneurs can now sell globally without the need for physical outlets abroad. Digital platforms allow them to reach international customers more easily and affordably,” he explained.
Through eBizLink, MATRADE aims to empower MSMEs to adopt digital trade strategies, supporting the MADANI Government’s aspiration to produce more globally competitive exporters and reinforce Malaysia’s position as a regional digital economy hub.
