Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA®) unveiled the initiative during its Annual General Assembly at Dusit Princess Hotel on 27 July 2026. “TourShield” seeks to give travellers greater peace of mind while helping hotels and tourism operators deliver safer guest experiences.
The launch comes as Malaysia continues to strengthen its position as one of Southeast Asia’s leading tourism destinations.
Industry Partners Unite to Improve Tourist Safety
YBhg. Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Chairman of Tourism Malaysia, officially launched TourShield.
During the event, Dr Sri Ganesh Michiel, National President of MyBHA®, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jayden Chuah Chee Keong, Chief InsurTech Officer of VKA Wealth Planners Sdn Bhd.
Under the agreement, VKA Wealth Planners will manage and facilitate the TourShield programme. The partnership creates a coordinated platform that supports hotels and protects travellers throughout their journey.
Strategic Collaborations Expand Protection Services
VKA Wealth Planners Sdn Bhd also signed separate MoUs with Fastlane Emergency Resources Group Sdn. Bhd. and HEYDOC Health Sdn. Bhd.
These partnerships will provide emergency response, healthcare support and additional protection services for the hospitality and tourism sector. Together, they strengthen TourShield’s ability to deliver comprehensive assistance to travellers.
Government Supports Safer Tourism
Government representatives also attended the launch, highlighting strong public-private cooperation.
Among those present were Mohd Roslan bin Abdullah, Senior Director of the Domestic and Events Division at Tourism Malaysia, and Mohamad Bukhari bin Che Man, Director of the Melaka Office of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC).
Their attendance reflected a shared commitment to improving tourism safety and strengthening visitor confidence.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Sri Ganesh said TourShield is guided by the principle: ‘Securing Hospitality. Safeguarding Journeys.‘
He said Malaysia must strengthen visitor protection as the tourism industry continues to grow. He added that safety, responsibility and sustainability should progress together to support long-term industry growth.

MyBHA encourages hotels and accommodation providers to explore the exclusive benefits available through the TourShield programme.
By bringing together hospitality operators, insurance specialists, emergency response providers and healthcare partners, TourShield aims to build a safer and more resilient tourism ecosystem.
