KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 2025 — METALTECH & AUTOMEX 2025, Southeast Asia’s premier trade event for metalworking, automation, and advanced manufacturing, officially opened today at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), bringing together over 1,500 brands and exhibitors from 40 countries. With a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation, the 29th edition of the event reaffirms its pivotal role in shaping the future of industry across the region.

Organised by Informa Markets Malaysia, this year’s show runs concurrently with the inaugural Advanced Machinery & Engineering Summit (AMES) 2025, an initiative by the Machinery & Engineering Industries Federation (MEIF). The dual-event format bridges industry dialogue and policy implementation, further catalysing regional industrial transformation.

“We launched AMES to create focused dialogue and coordinated action—not to duplicate, but to deepen,” said Mac Ngan Boon, President of MEIF. “This partnership strengthens our shared vision of industrial innovation.”

Officiating the opening ceremony, Datuk Mohd Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary General (Industry) of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), praised the event as a powerful symbol of integrated transformation.

“Today, industrial change is not only about tech upgrades or policy—it’s about both evolving together,” he stated.

A Platform for Advanced Innovation and Sustainability

Under the theme “Sustainable Manufacturing: From Smart Solutions to AI Innovations”, METALTECH & AUTOMEX 2025 features more than 5,000 cutting-edge technologies—including CNC machinery, robotics, smart sensors, IoT, AI applications, and energy-efficient systems—drawing an expected 20,000 trade visitors over four days.

In a keynote at AMES 2025, Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat, Chairman of MIDF Berhad, highlighted the importance of aligning financing tools with national priorities like NIMP 2030 and IR4.0.

“MIDF is committed to supporting innovation in machinery, automation, and engineering through accessible financing. These are investments in Malaysia’s future competitiveness,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gerard Leeuwenburgh, Country General Manager of Informa Markets Malaysia, underscored the role of environmental responsibility:

“Sustainability is no longer optional. The technologies on display—from low-waste production to circular design—prove that green innovation is good business.”

Key Highlights and Announcements

  • Live product demos, technical seminars, and forums focus on digital transformation, energy optimisation, and sustainable manufacturing.
  • Monitor ERP was recognised as Gold Sponsor, offering integrated enterprise solutions to boost operational efficiency.
  • AM Machinery, this year’s Woven Bag Sponsor, was also honoured for its long-standing support.

In a major announcement, AUTOMEX will debut as a standalone event from 4–6 November 2025 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Penang. After 14 years of co-location with METALTECH, this move reflects AUTOMEX’s growing footprint and rising demand in Malaysia’s northern industrial corridor.

Looking ahead, preparations are already underway for the 30th anniversary of METALTECH & AUTOMEX, scheduled for 20–23 May 2026 at MITEC. Organisers promise the milestone event will be the biggest and boldest edition yet—celebrating three decades of innovation, collaboration, and industry growth.
