Together, the three models give Malaysian customers greater choice across the Mercedes-Benz portfolio as the brand continues its transition towards electric mobility.

“We are excited to officially launch the highly anticipated all-new electric CLA in Malaysia,” said Nadia Trimmel, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia.

Recognised as Car of the Year 2026, she said the CLA demonstrates how Mercedes-Benz continues to push the boundaries of efficiency, intelligence and design.

“With its impressive electric range, rapid charging capability, and the introduction of MB.OS, it brings together technologies that redefine what customers can expect from a vehicle in this segment,” Trimmel added.

Up to 792km of electric range

One of the key highlights of the Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ electric is its combination of efficiency and long-distance capability.

The vehicle delivers an electric range of 673 to 792km according to WLTP, with an electric consumption figure of 12.3 to 14.6kWh/100km.

It produces 200kW (272hp) and 335Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of 210km/h.

A major contributor to its efficiency is the vehicle’s 800-volt electrical architecture, paired with advanced drive units and a two-speed transmission on the rear axle.

The CLA 250+ electric can support DC fast charging at up to 320kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in around 22 minutes under the stated conditions.

At compatible 500-amp DC fast-charging stations, the vehicle can recover up to 325km of WLTP range in just 10 minutes.

Two-speed transmission combines performance and efficiency

The all-new electric CLA introduces a two-speed transmission on the rear axle, giving the model a combination of responsive acceleration and high-speed efficiency.

The first gear has a short 11:1 ratio, providing strong acceleration from a standstill and efficiency during urban driving. The second gear, with a 5:1 ratio, is designed for higher speeds and improved efficiency on highways.

The transmission’s shift points adapt to the driving situation and selected driving programme. An online optimiser, integrated into MB.OS, can also continuously adjust the shift strategy according to factors including battery charge level, available power and driver requirements.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the Electric Drive Unit (EDU) 2.0 is designed to balance high torque, top speed and efficiency, while also providing the power required for inclines and towing.

MB.OS makes the CLA a software-defined Mercedes-Benz

Technology is at the heart of the all-new electric CLA, with Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) serving as the vehicle’s central digital architecture.

The CLA is the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle to operate entirely on MB.OS, which controls infotainment, body and comfort functions, as well as driving and charging systems.

The chip-to-cloud architecture allows Mercedes-Benz to control the vehicle’s actuators and sensors while separating hardware and software development. This enables the company to introduce software improvements more quickly and provides support for over-the-air updates across the vehicle’s software architecture.

The vehicle’s supercomputers are connected to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud, allowing software updates to be delivered remotely, including updates to driving assistance systems.

Mercedes-Benz has also partnered with technology companies including Google and Microsoft to expand the content and services available through MB.OS.

AI-powered MBUX Virtual Assistant

The fourth-generation Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system runs on MB.OS, introducing a more conversational and personalised interaction between driver and vehicle.

The new MBUX Virtual Assistant incorporates artificial intelligence from Microsoft and Google, combining multiple AI agents within a single in-car system.

Powered in part by ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing search, the system can handle more complex, multi-turn conversations rather than simply responding to individual commands.

It can retain context throughout a conversation, allowing drivers to ask follow-up questions naturally.

The system also incorporates Google’s Gemini technology through the Automotive AI Agent from Google Cloud, developed with Gemini via Vertex AI. This enables the assistant to access information from Google Maps and answer questions relating to navigation, locations and points of interest.

The MBUX Virtual Assistant can switch between different AI agents depending on the subject being discussed, while retaining the context of the conversation.

Google Maps integrated with intelligent EV navigation

Navigation in the all-new electric CLA is based on Google Maps, combining Google’s mapping services with Mercedes-Benz’s own interface and electric vehicle features.

Mercedes-Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence can plan routes based on factors including traffic conditions, driving style and charging requirements. Charging stops are incorporated into the route, while the system continuously develops its battery energy forecast.

The integration is designed to give electric vehicle drivers greater confidence when planning longer journeys by considering charging requirements alongside the route itself.

A new design for the electric era

The all-new electric CLA also introduces a new interpretation of Mercedes-Benz design.

Its fastback silhouette, long 2,790mm wheelbase, short overhangs and GT-inspired rear give the model a sporty profile while supporting aerodynamic efficiency.

At the front, the vehicle features a distinctive shark-nose design and an illuminated Mercedes-Benz pattern grille. The grille incorporates the Mercedes-Benz star alongside 142 chrome-effect stars, creating a distinctive illuminated signature.

The MULTIBEAM LED headlights feature daytime running lights in the shape of the Mercedes-Benz star, while Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus provides automatically regulated high-beam lighting.

Frameless doors, flush-fitting retractable door handles and compact exterior mirrors further contribute to the CLA’s aerodynamic design.

At the rear, star-shaped taillights are connected by a band of light featuring animated coming-home and leaving-home sequences. The rear diffuser is finished in high-gloss black and aerodynamically optimised.

The CLA is 4,723mm long, approximately 40mm longer than its predecessor, while its wheelbase has increased by more than 60mm.

A high-tech interior centred around the MBUX Superscreen

Inside, Mercedes-Benz has created a more minimalist cabin focused on technology and premium comfort.

The centrepiece is the floating MBUX Superscreen, which stretches across the width of the dashboard. Behind a large glass surface are a 10.25-inch driver display and two 14-inch central and passenger displays.

A panoramic glass roof adds to the sense of space, extending from the windscreen frame towards the rear without a central brace.

The vehicle also introduces a 101-litre front boot, or frunk, providing additional storage space for items such as charging cables and luggage. The rear luggage compartment provides a further 405 litres of capacity.

The cabin is equipped with AMG Line interior features and sports seats upholstered in ARTICO man-made nappa-look leather and MICROCUT microfibre.

Other equipment includes THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control, ambient lighting, KEYLESS-GO Convenience Package, MB.DRIVE Standard, MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360, VISION CONTROL, a selfie and video camera, and USB Package Plus.

Sustainability extends into the cabin

Mercedes-Benz has also incorporated secondary and recycled materials into the CLA’s interior.

The backing fabric used for the sports seat upholstery is made from recycled PET bottles, which are regranulated, spun into yarn and processed into textile.

The MICROCUT microfibre material is made from 100% recycled material, while the Econyl yarn used for the floor covering is also produced from recycled material.

Sustainably produced and processed leather is available as an alternative, with the production process incorporating chrome-free tanning and mineral, synthetic or vegetable tanning agents derived from renewable raw materials.

Safety and comfort designed into the CLA

The all-new electric CLA has been developed with a strong focus on active and passive safety.

For the first time in this vehicle segment, Mercedes-Benz is offering a centre airbag as standard. Integrated into the driver’s seat backrest, it is designed to deploy between the driver and front passenger during certain severe side impacts.

The vehicle also features a newly developed three-link front axle and multi-link rear axle, designed to provide precise steering response and ride comfort.

MB.CHARGE Public simplifies EV charging

The all-new electric CLA is also equipped with MB.CHARGE Public, Mercedes-Benz’s integrated public charging service.

Through the Mercedes-Benz App and MBUX, customers can locate compatible charging stations, navigate to them, authenticate charging sessions and manage payments through a single digital service.

MB.CHARGE Public provides access to more than 3,000 charging points across over 1,000 locations in Malaysia, while connecting customers to multiple charging operators without the need for separate subscriptions.

The service also supports cross-border travel between Malaysia and Singapore, allowing Mercedes-Benz customers to access participating charging networks through a single charging service and billing system.

Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ electric price and Agility+ package

The Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ electric is priced at RM274,888 for Peninsular Malaysia, on the road without insurance and inclusive of 10% Sales Tax. The vehicle comes with a four-year manufacturer warranty.

Customers can also opt for the Agility+ by Mercedes-Benz financing plan, which starts from RM2,988 per month.

The package includes a fifth-year extended limited warranty Star Gold, four Compact Service Packages, Guaranteed Future Value, lower monthly repayments, flexible end-of-term options and the MobilityPlus programme.
