KUALA LUMPUR, 28 AUGUST 2026 - The eighth edition of MBFWKL united Malaysia and the region’s established and emerging designers with Mercedes-Benz craftsmanship and innovation, culminating in the Malaysian showcase of the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series.

Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Kuala Lumpur (MBFWKL) 2026 returned from 21 to 23 August, bringing three days of fashion, artistry and creative expression to The Exchange TRX under the theme ‘Welcome to Couture. Welcome to Beyond.’

Now in its eighth edition, MBFWKL has evolved beyond a traditional fashion celebration into a broader expression of modern luxury, bringing together the worlds of fashion and automotive design through craftsmanship, innovation and enduring excellence.

Central to this year’s event was the unveiling of the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, an embodiment of timeless elegance, open-top exhilaration and exceptional craftsmanship.

Where Fashion Meets Automotive Design

The 2026 edition of MBFWKL drew on the enduring legacy of Mercedes-Benz as the brand celebrates 140 Years of Innovation.

Throughout its history, Mercedes-Benz has continued to evolve vehicle design and technology around the people who experience them, redefining the meaning of luxury, comfort and mobility.

That philosophy extended beyond the automotive world at MBFWKL 2026, where fashion and automotive design were brought together through a shared appreciation for individuality, distinctive aesthetics, meticulous attention to detail and an uncompromising commitment to quality.

The runway became an extension of the Mercedes-Benz philosophy: to honour what came before while continually moving beyond it.

“As Mercedes-Benz celebrates 140 Years of Innovation, Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Kuala Lumpur is a natural platform to celebrate what it means to lead with vision. ‘Welcome to Couture. Welcome to Beyond.’ captures where our brand is today – moving confidently into a new chapter while remaining deeply rooted in the craftsmanship, heritage, and pioneering spirit that have shaped our journey,” said Martin Schulz, CEO & President, Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia & Head of Region, Mercedes-Benz Cars Southeast Asia. “The unveiling of the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series alongside Malaysia’s finest designers brings this philosophy to life. It is a powerful expression of how true luxury is never static; it evolves, pushes boundaries, and redefines what is possible with every new chapter shaped by the ambition to go beyond,” he added.

Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series Takes Centre Stage

Beyond the runway, the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series made an anticipated appearance in Malaysia, giving guests a closer look at the latest expression of open-top sophistication from Mercedes-Maybach.

Preserving the SL’s open-air character while elevating it with Mercedes-Maybach’s signature design language, craftsmanship, refinement and exclusivity, the new model embodies Mercedes-Benz’s progressive vision of automotive excellence.

Its distinctive Monogram pattern, elegant proportions and luxurious interior reflect the meticulous attention to detail shared by haute couture and automotive design.

“The new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series embodies the essence of Maybach through its exclusive design, open-top character, and exceptional attention to detail. Its distinctive Monogram pattern, elegant proportions, and luxurious interior come together to create a roadster unlike any other,” said Nadia Trimmel, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia. “Presenting this model at MBFWKL 2026 is a fitting celebration of the craftsmanship and artistry shared by haute couture and automotive design, where every detail contributes to an experience of true exclusivity,” she added.
