KUALA LUMPUR, 28 AUGUST 2026 - The strategic partnership will provide SME Malaysia members with exclusive hospitality privileges while creating new opportunities for engagement between Malaysia’s SME community and the hospitality sector.

The SME Association of Malaysia (SME Malaysia) and Sunway Hospitality Group have entered into a strategic partnership following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Sunway Resort Hotel.

The MoU was signed yesterday afternoon following the conclusion of SME Malaysia’s 12th Council Meeting, marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration aimed at delivering exclusive benefits, preferential privileges and enhanced engagement opportunities for SME Malaysia members.

Strengthening Benefits for SME Malaysia Members

The partnership is intended to provide SME Malaysia members with greater access to hospitality-related privileges, while creating opportunities for stronger engagement between SMEs and Sunway Hospitality Group.

The collaboration will focus on developing initiatives that deliver value to both organisations and the businesses they serve, while strengthening connections between Malaysia’s SME community and the hospitality sector.

Alex Castaldi, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Hospitality Group, said the partnership reflects the group’s commitment to building strategic alliances that create meaningful experiences and lasting value for its partners and their communities.

“We are pleased to partner with SME Malaysia and look forward to creating meaningful opportunities and exclusive benefits for its members. This collaboration allows us to strengthen our engagement with the SME community while building a partnership that delivers value to both organisations and the businesses we serve,” said Castaldi.

Creating Stronger Connections Between SMEs and Hospitality

For SME Malaysia, the partnership represents an opportunity to expand the value offered to its members while encouraging greater interaction between businesses and the hospitality industry.

Dr Chin Chee Seong, National President of SME Malaysia, said the collaboration would provide members with added benefits while strengthening business connections.

“We welcome this strategic partnership with Sunway Hospitality Group, which will bring added value and exclusive privileges to our members. Beyond the benefits, we see this collaboration as an opportunity to strengthen business connections and create meaningful engagement between the SME community and the hospitality sector,” said Dr Chin.

MoU Signing Brings Two Organisations Together

The MoU was signed by Dr Chin Chee Seong, National President of SME Malaysia, and Adjunct Professor Alex Castaldi, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Hospitality Group.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Dato’ Sri Dr Ricky Yaw Chan Choy, Deputy President of SME Malaysia, and Ireen Chew, Director of Commercial at Sunway Resort Hotel.

The partnership further demonstrates the commitment of both organisations to developing mutually beneficial initiatives that support SMEs and foster stronger connections across Malaysia’s business and hospitality sectors.

Through the collaboration, SME Malaysia members stand to gain access to enhanced hospitality-related benefits, while Sunway Hospitality Group will deepen its engagement with Malaysia’s SME community.

The partnership also highlights the potential for closer collaboration between the SME and hospitality sectors in developing initiatives that create value for businesses and their wider communities.
