In light of International Women’s Day, Maxim E-hailing shares an inspiring story of a partner-driver’s journey to independence.

Anizah Ibrahim was born and raised in Malacca. She works full-time as an officer at a government agency and does e-hailing as a part-time job. Anizah completed her bachelor’s degree and graduated cum laude at the MARA Technological University (UITM). She is a determined and hardworking woman. “Back in the day, as a student, I had a part-time job; I didn’t want to ask my parents for money, so I decided to work during semester breaks. That’s how I’ve become who I am now, always trying to work harder and look for extra income,” shared Anizah.

Her life changed after she got a divorce and faced a period of instability. She had to care for four children aged 3 to 12 years and support a family alone. In addition to her full-time job, she needed to earn extra money to provide a comfortable life for her children. Anizah joined Maxim E-hailing in 2024 after her close friend introduced it to her as a platform to earn extra money that offers flexibility.

The additional income of RM1,000–RM2,000 helps her provide better for her children. “I can cover my rent, car expenses, education fees, food, and more. I grew up in a comfortable environment and want my children to feel the same. Driving has also become a part of who I am. I feel calmer during trips, especially if it’s a long road trip. Meeting new people makes me feel alive, as most passengers are very nice and always thank me for driving them safely,” added Anizah. Interestingly, her passion has also become a source of inspiration. Anizah has 53.9 thousand likes on TikTok and is well-known as Maxim E-hailing’s female partner-driver in Malacca.

For International Women’s Day 2025, Maxim E-hailing aims to communicate to women that success can be achieved in many ways. The company conducted a survey and discovered that women made up almost 10% of Maxim E-hailing’s partner-drivers. Female drivers are in high demand among passengers because they feel safer with them. This is especially true for university students, single women, and mothers with children. People making long-distance trips and those travelling at night and/or alone might also appreciate a female driver.

However, some may view driving as unsuited to women, as the field implies hard work, long drives, meeting new people, knowing about cars, and doing repairs. Maxim E-hailing refuses to accept the stereotype that a woman’s role is confined to housework and raising children. The company works hard to ensure they support women by listening to and hearing their voices; and believing that everyone should have the same opportunities. Maxim E-hailing believes that being heard can have a huge impact on one’s life, and that is why their platform is open to everyone.
