Malaysia’s event industry is getting a new digital marketplace with the launch of Event Me Now (EMN), a homegrown platform designed to simplify event planning and help vendors manage customer enquiries, quotations and bookings.
Event Me Now Sdn Bhd officially soft-launched the platform on 1 October 2026 at St Giles Boulevard Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The event brought together vendors, hospitality representatives, technology partners and other industry stakeholders.
The platform aims to address a common challenge for customers: finding and comparing event services across social media, websites, personal recommendations and lengthy WhatsApp conversations.
For vendors, handling enquiries across multiple channels can also take time away from running their businesses. Preparing quotations, checking availability, following up with customers and coordinating payments can create additional administrative work.
Event Me Now aims to bring these processes into one digital ecosystem, connecting customers with event vendors while allowing businesses to retain control over their services and pricing.
One Platform for 10 Event Service Categories
Event Me Now currently covers 10 key areas of Malaysia’s event industry. These include venues and event spaces, catering and beverages, decoration, entertainment, sound and lighting, photography, videography, makeup and styling, event equipment rentals, event planning, and transport and car rental.
The company plans to expand its range of services as the marketplace grows.
Unlike a traditional event agency, EMN operates as a marketplace rather than managing events on behalf of customers. Vendors decide which enquiries to respond to, set their own prices and prepare their own quotations.
The platform does not determine which vendor receives a booking. Customers can review the quotations they receive and decide which service provider best suits their needs.
“We did not want to build another platform that simply lists vendors,” said Murali Kathegesen, Founder and Managing Director of Event Me Now.
“We wanted to understand what customers actually go through when planning an event and what vendors experience while running their businesses. From there, we started building the platform around those problems.”
Verification, Availability and Milestone Payments
Event Me Now places trust, honesty and transparency at the centre of its marketplace model.
The platform introduces identity and business verification measures to promote accountability and help customers make more informed decisions when choosing event vendors.
Availability management is another key feature. Vendors will be able to manage their availability through the platform, helping customers identify suitable providers before committing to a booking.
EMN also uses a quotation-based process. Customers submit their event requirements, and vendors can choose whether to respond with a quotation. Vendors remain responsible for setting prices and presenting their offers.
The platform is also introducing milestone payments to provide a more structured way to manage payments at different stages of an event.
Together, these features are intended to make it easier for customers to compare services and coordinate bookings, while helping vendors manage the process through a central marketplace.
Zero Platform Commission Keeps Vendors in Control
A key part of Event Me Now’s business model is its commitment to zero platform commission.
Rather than taking a percentage of each booking, the company plans to generate revenue through annual subscriptions paid by participating vendors.
This approach allows vendors to set their prices without having to account for an additional marketplace commission on every transaction.
“A vendor may spend years building their skills, reputation and business,” Murali said.
“We believe the price they charge should remain their decision and their earnings should remain theirs. Our role is to create the environment that helps genuine customers and genuine vendors connect.”
The company says more than 80 vendors expressed interest in joining during its early recruitment phase. These businesses represent different segments of Malaysia’s event industry.
Event Me Now has also become an Associate Member of the Malaysian Association of Hotels as it begins building relationships across the country’s hospitality and events sectors.
Vendor Registration Opens in November
Public vendor registration for Event Me Now will open on 1 November 2026. The platform will offer annual subscription options for companies, enterprises and individual freelancers.
Malaysia is the company’s immediate focus, but its longer-term plans extend across the wider event economy. Potential areas of expansion include destination events, business collaboration and additional services that connect more industry participants.
For now, the company aims to establish a marketplace that customers can trust and vendors find useful.
“We are building this in Malaysia, for Malaysia first,” Murali said.
“The soft launch was an important milestone, but it is only the beginning. There is still a lot for us to prove. What matters now is building something customers can trust, vendors genuinely find useful and the industry can grow together with.”
As Event Me Now prepares to open vendor registration, its next challenge will be turning early industry interest into an active marketplace that delivers value for both customers and event businesses.
