Bayan Lepas, Penang, May 9 — The Malaysia Gold Association (MGA), in collaboration with the Province Wellesley Gold & Silver Ornament Merchants Association (PWGS), successfully co-organized the Malaysia Gold and Jewellery Trade Exhibition 2025 (MGJE 2025) today at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre. The prestigious event was officially launched by Yang Berhormat Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang, alongside MGJE Organizing Chairman Mr. Law Chin Hooi and MGA President Dato’ Wira Louis Ng.

As an important and prominent industry platform, MGJE 2025 reinforces MGA’s commitment to promoting excellence in Malaysia’s gold and jewellery sector, while driving global engagement, business expansion, and insights into evolving market trends.

Showcasing Malaysian Gold Craftsmanship

A central highlight of MGJE 2025 was the premiere of MGA’s official documentary on Malaysia’s gold jewellery fabrication sector. The film honors the country’s heritage of producing 916 (22K) and 999 (24K) gold pieces, celebrated globally for blending traditional artistry with modern techniques.

“This documentary pays tribute to the generations of master craftsmen who built the foundation of our thriving gold industry,” said Dato’ Wira Louis Ng, President of MGA. “It reflects our rich cultural legacy and positions Malaysia as a global hub of excellence in gold jewellery manufacturing.”

MGC 2026 Announced: Malaysia to Host Third Edition of Global Gold Conference

MGJE 2025 also witnessed the unveiling of the 3rd Malaysia Gold Conference (MGC 2026), which will take place on 2–3 February 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). This global gathering is expected to welcome over 500 delegates from more than 30 countries, especially from the ASEAN and Asia-Pacific regions.

Key partners supporting MGC 2026 include the MATRADE, MyCEB, and Metals Focus, which will provide in-depth, data-driven insights as the event’s Knowledge Partner.

“MGC 2026 will be the most ambitious and international edition to date,” Dato’ Wira Louis Ng added. “It will unite leaders across the precious metals value chain—from miners to investors—to share perspectives, fuel innovation, and deepen global collaboration.”

New Global Partnership: Emirates Gold Joins MGA and Sponsors MGC 2026

In a major milestone for the association, MGA also welcomed Emirates Gold DMCC—a leading gold refiner based in Dubai—as its newest Foreign Associate Member. As a distinguished brand in the global gold industry, Emirates Gold will also serve as Title Sponsor of MGC 2026.

This strategic partnership signifies growing regional collaboration and strengthens Malaysia’s stature within the international precious metals network.

National Campaign Launched: “Buy Malaysian Gold”

Adding to the day’s achievements, MGA launched the “Buy Malaysian Gold: A Tradition of Craftsmanship, A Future of Excellence” campaign in partnership with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living (KPDN). The initiative, officially launched by YBhg Dato’ Rohaizi Bin Bahari, Senior Director of the Distributive Trade and Business Sector at KPDN, is part of the Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign (KBBM) 2025.

Running from 1 May to 31 December 2025, the campaign aims to:

  • Stimulate local demand for Malaysian gold products
  • Boost consumer confidence in homegrown craftsmanship
  • Position Malaysia as a global leader in gold jewellery production

“This is the first gold-focused campaign under KBBM,” said Dato’ Wira Louis Ng. “We invite all stakeholders in the gold industry to join this national effort and celebrate our tradition of excellence.”
