SERDANG, 8 MAY 2025 – Today is the day where the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 officially opened its door, heralding a new era of innovation and sustainability in mobility for the ASEAN region. Organised by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), the event features over 200 exhibitors, more than 500 vehicles, and the largest showcase of electric vehicles (EVs) in the event’s history.

Spanning 50,000 square metres, the show brings together the entire mobility ecosystem—from vehicle manufacturers and component suppliers to financial institutions and EV infrastructure providers—offering a holistic and interactive automotive experience.

Officiated by the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, the launch emphasised Malaysia’s ambition to lead the ASEAN region in sustainable, next-generation mobility.

“The resilience of Malaysia’s automotive sector hinges on deeper regional supply chain integration,” said the Minister. “Malaysia is proud to drive ASEAN’s e-mobility agenda in our capacity as ASEAN Chair in 2025. MAS 2025 positions us as a global hub for green and future-focused mobility solutions.”

Aligned with important national policies—including the National Automotive Policy (NAP), New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR)—the Autoshow reinforces Malaysia’s pivot toward high-value, innovation-led industry and clean energy adoption.

Immersive Experiences & Innovation on Display

Launching with over 70 new models—including passenger cars, EVs, motorcycles, and mobility innovations—are set to debut. The event is designed as both a launchpad and a testbed, giving visitors opportunities to test-drive over 100 vehicles across purpose-built test tracks simulating real-world conditions.

MAS 2025 is now officially recognised by the ASEAN Records as the “Largest Outdoor Obstacle Test Drive Zone at an Autoshow,” featuring over 5.1 kilometres of trails for cars, EVs, motorcycles, and 4×4 vehicles. Key highlights include:

  • ADAS and tech demo zones to test advanced driver assistance systems.
  • A new 4×4 Experience Track with hill descents, water wading, and rock crawls.
  • Improved motorcycle test ride sections to evaluate performance and agility.

Designed to appeal to enthusiasts, families, and industry professionals alike, the show features a wide range of programmes:

  • Car Modified & Motorsport Showcases
  • Car & Bike Gatherings
  • Automotive Education & Career Day
  • Dedicated Women’s Day celebrating women in motorsports and driving.

With Malaysia’s Total Industry Volume (TIV) hitting 816,747 units in 2024, the country now ranks second in Southeast Asia and 23rd globally. The EV market continues to accelerate, with nearly 9,850 electric and hybrid vehicles sold in Q1 2025 alone.

“MAS 2025 is more than a showcase – it’s a catalyst,” said MARii CEO Azrul Reza Aziz. “We are proud to provide a platform that fosters innovation, builds industry capacity, and drives long-term sustainability for the region’s mobility future.”
