GAC M8 PHEV: Malaysia’s First Flagship Plug-in Hybrid MPV Officially Open for Booking

The star of the show in MAS 2025 was firmly the GAC M8 PHEV, a luxurious and intelligent MPV designed to transform the premium hybrid segment. Officially open for booking, the M8 boasts an outstanding combined cruising range of up to 1,038 km, combining fuel and electric power to ensure both long-haul reliability and daily driving convenience.

Engineered with premium safety and comfort in mind, the M8 PHEV features:

  • GAC’s patented 360° full-surround airbag system, including the world’s first rear windscreen airbag
  • Advanced driver-assistance systems
  • State-of-the-art magazine battery technology for enhanced thermal stability
  • A refined and ergonomic cabin tailored for family and executive comfort

During the event, Mr. Tan Keng Meng, CEO of WTC Automotive, shared that the model is expected to be priced from RM333,000, with full specifications to be announced closer to launch. The M8 will come with:

  • 5-year / 150,000 km vehicle warranty
  • 8-year / 150,000 km warranty on battery, drive motor, and electronic control units
  • 2 years of complimentary scheduled maintenance for early bookers
  • A portable charging cable (worth RM3,800) included during the pre-sale period

“The GAC M8 PHEV is not just a new premium MPV—it redefines what a modern, sustainable, and intelligent MPV should be,” said Mr. Tan. “With its outstanding range, luxurious appointments, and safety innovations, it is built for Malaysians who expect more from their mobility solutions.”


HYPTEC HT and AION V: The Future of EV Design Arrives in Malaysia

Also featured at MAS 2025 is the HYPTEC HT, a regional EV sensation making waves across ASEAN. Showcased in both gull-wing and standard-door configurations, the HT offers:

  • Magazine battery technology for improved safety and battery integrity
  • Up to 620 km (NEDC) of range
  • DC fast charging support up to 280kW

Built for both style and long-distance capability, the HT is poised to become a go-to choice for Malaysian EV adopters when it officially launches in Q3 2025.

Meanwhile, making its Malaysian debut after international acclaim at the Paris Motor Show, the AION V brings a futuristic and muscular SUV design inspired by the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Powered by a 100kW motor producing 240Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, with an NEDC-tested range of up to 602 km—delivering both performance and practicality.
