Delivery Hero has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Malaysia with an investment of more than RM20 million in its new Malaysia Shared Service Centre (MYSSC), further positioning the country as a strategic hub for the company’s regional operations.
Located at Multi-Purpose Tower, Kuala Lumpur, the new 38,000-square-foot facility supports Delivery Hero’s businesses across 16 markets spanning Asia-Pacific, Turkey and Europe, while reinforcing Malaysia’s growing importance within the global organisation.
Designed to foster collaboration, innovation and future-ready ways of working, the new office will enable MYSSC to continue delivering operational excellence while enhancing customer experiences across the region.
Supporting Regional Growth Through Malaysia
While foodpanda Malaysia continues serving local consumers, merchants and delivery partners, the MYSSC provides specialised operational support that extends far beyond the domestic market.
Over the years, the centre has expanded its responsibilities to include increasingly specialised functions across customer experience, process excellence, technology, finance and people operations, becoming an integral part of Delivery Hero’s regional business infrastructure.
The latest investment reflects the company’s confidence in Malaysia’s strategic location, skilled workforce and thriving digital ecosystem.
Investing in Malaysian Talent and AI Capabilities
According to Tareq Barto, Chief Executive Officer of foodpanda, foodora and Yemeksepeti, Malaysia has become an increasingly important component of Delivery Hero’s regional service operations due to its highly skilled, multilingual workforce and strong digital capabilities.
He noted that these strengths allow the company to efficiently support multiple international markets from a single location while maintaining high operational standards.
The investment also reflects Delivery Hero’s commitment to developing Malaysian talent. As the MYSSC continues to evolve, the company aims to create more opportunities for Malaysians to take on specialised regional roles, equipping employees with valuable international experience and career development within a global organisation.
Alongside workforce development, Delivery Hero is expanding its use of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation to streamline routine processes. By automating repetitive tasks, employees can focus on more specialised responsibilities, solve increasingly complex business challenges and deliver greater value across regional operations.
The company expects approximately 80 per cent of MYSSC’s workforce to comprise Malaysians by 2027, highlighting its long-term commitment to nurturing local talent.
Enhancing Customer Experience Across the Region
For Kenneth Soh, Managing Director of foodpanda Malaysia, strengthening MYSSC’s regional capabilities directly benefits customers.
He explained that housing these specialised functions in Malaysia enables closer collaboration, faster responses and continuous improvements to the customer experience delivered across Delivery Hero’s markets.
He also highlighted the importance of equipping employees with new technologies and encouraging continuous learning as the business evolves, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to deliver even greater value in the future.
Building the Future of Regional Operations
Delivery Hero’s latest investment underscores its strategy of combining technology, skilled talent and operational excellence to support sustainable regional growth.
As the MYSSC continues expanding its capabilities, the company remains committed to investing in its people, digital technologies and operational infrastructure. These initiatives are ultimately aimed at delivering improved experiences for customers, merchants and delivery partners while strengthening Malaysia’s position as a regional business and technology hub.
