The Sky Race™, a thrilling vertical challenge set at the iconic Merdeka 118, is officially launching on Saturday, 30 August 2025. Participants will climb an astounding 2,845 stairs across 118 floors, culminating at the exclusive Level 118 – a level never before open to the public.
Organised by Fresh Events Asia in collaboration with the Malaysia Towerrunning Association, the Sky Race is more than just a fitness challenge. It’s a historic first, timed perfectly with Malaysia’s Independence Day weekend, offering Malaysians and global visitors the chance to scale one of the world’s most awe-inspiring structures.

Towering at 680 meters, Merdeka 118 is the second tallest building in the world. As participants ascend, they symbolically echo Malaysia’s own rise – its journey of independence, ambition, and growth. From the summit, they’ll be treated to the most breathtaking panoramic view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline, turning their finish line into a memory that lasts a lifetime.

World Champion Ambassador and Expert Event Organisers
The Sky Race will be officially championed by Soh Wai Ching, tower running World Champion and local sporting icon. Soh will lead pre-race training and motivational sessions, bringing world-class insight to participants preparing for the vertical challenge.
