CAPE TOWN, South Africa, May 5 – The Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) has announced the theme for its landmark annual conference taking place from 30 to 31 October 2025 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC): “Get Over The Barrier: Now More Than Ever!”
Currently in its 11th iteration, AWIEF2025 will bring together a dynamic and diverse community of entrepreneurs, investors, corporate leaders, policymakers, development partners, and civil society from across Africa and the globe to tackle persistent challenges and unlock new opportunities for women in business and innovation.
The theme is a courageous call to action amid growing global concern over rapid regressions in women’s rights and gender equality. While past decades have seen encouraging progress, the current climate—marked by economic uncertainty, political instability, technological disruption, and rising inequality—demands a renewed, united push to protect and advance the gains made.
“Despite notable strides, we are facing an alarming backlash against gender equality. AWIEF2025 is about mobilising everyone—women and men alike—to push back and push forward,” said AWIEF Founder and CEO, Irene Ochem. “As we look ahead to 2030 and beyond, now more than ever, we must ensure that African women are not left behind.”
Following the success of AWIEF2024, which welcomed over 1,000 participants from more than 50 countries, including 42 African nations, the 2025 edition promises increased engagement, further reach, and bolder conversations that fuels transformative changes.
What to Expect from AWIEF2025:
- Engaging plenaries, panels, and workshops on entrepreneurship, investment, digital inclusion, green economy, leadership, and more
- High-level networking with industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers
- Business exhibition opportunities to showcase products, services, and innovations to a continental and international audience
