Private-public partnership to increase graduate employment and nation’s skilled workers

Kuala Lumpur, December 3, 2025 – Tata Consultancy Service, a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, held the closing ceremony of KodeMyFuture, a flagship digital skills development program designed to equip Malaysia’s graduates with coding, problem-solving, and employability skills for the digital economy.

The ceremony was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Professor Dr Azlinda binti Azman, the Director General of the Minister of Higher Education (MOHE) together with senior representatives from TCS and its other programme partners.

Held in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO), the three-day event was geared at nurturing Malaysia’s future-ready workforce by training university graduates from diverse backgrounds in foundational and advanced digital competencies such as AI, cloud computing, data analytics, and cybersecurity.

Over the past year, the program has empowered participants with industry-needed skills through structured learning modules, industry mentoring, and real-world project exposure, preparing them to succeed in the fast-evolving digital economy.

Empowering the next generation of talents

Speaking at the event, YBhg. Datuk Professor Dr Azlinda binti Azman, the Director General of MOHE said,

“KodeMyFuture” is a testament to what Malaysia can achieve when government, academia and industry work in unison towards a shared goal. Through this collaboration, we are not only enhancing the employability of our graduates, but we are also creating a high-quality, future-ready talent pipeline that aligns with the nation’s digital and economic transformation agenda.”

“The success of this Bootcamp demonstrates how industry-driven training, supported by strong academic partnerships, can create meaningful pathways from education to employment.” continued Datuk.

She added that the programme brought together close to 100 participants who were carefully selected based on strong potential to excel in high-quality digital careers from Computer Science, Information Technology and related fields across public universities.

YBhg. Datuk Professor Dr Azlinda binti Azman added that KodeMyFuture supports Malaysia’s commitment to reducing graduate unemployment rate, which has declined from 3.4% in 2023 to 3.2% in 2024, with 4.98 million graduates currently employed. It will also support the nation’s 13th Malaysia Plan (13 MP) aspiration of increasing Malaysia’s high skilled workers to 35% by 2030, up from 30.2% last year.

Bridging education and employability

Jeevan Rajoo, Country Head, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Malaysia, said, “As Malaysia accelerates its digital transformation journey, there is an urgent need to bridge the gap between learning and livelihood — to turn potential into opportunity. Each year, Malaysia produces close to 300,000 graduates, many of whom are actively seeking meaningful employment and opportunities to enhance their skills for the digital economy. KodeMyFuture is a shining example of how public–private collaboration and skills-based learning can transform lives — empowering Malaysian youth with employable digital skills that are in demand today and essential for tomorrow.  We are deeply grateful to the Government of Malaysia and its agencies, particularly the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), MDEC, PERKESO for their agility and foresight in responding to market needs and creating real impact in the lives of so many graduates.”

Dato’ Sri Dr Mohammed Azman Bin Dato’ Aziz Mohammed, Group Chief Executive Officer, PERKESO, said, “In a world driven by technology, employability depends on adaptability. Programs like KodeMyFuture align with MYFutureJobs’ mission, of helping Malaysia’s graduates adapt to an increasingly digital workplace by enhancing their capabilities and mindset. This initiative supports our mission to future-proof Malaysia’s talent pipeline and promote meaningful employment among graduates.”

Anuar Fariz Fadzil, Chief Executive Officer of MDEC said, “We are pleased to witness this TCS initiative as it embodies the public-private partnerships essential for talent development. It’s a direct investment in future-proofing the skills and expertise our digital economy needs.”

“By creating a digitally inclusive nation where every graduate can thrive, we are actively building the next generation of AI-native Malaysians and laying the groundwork for our AI Nation 2030 ambition.” said Fadzil.

Driving inclusive, sustainable growth

TCS launched KodeMyFuture in Malaysia as part of its global youth skilling and employability initiative under the TCS Purpose4Life program. The initiative reinforces TCS’s long-term commitment to supporting national goals in digital education, inclusion, and sustainability.

By building digital literacy and coding expertise among Malaysia’s youth, KodeMyFuture directly addresses the skills gap that often limits employability among new graduates. The program’s participants have already demonstrated success, with many securing positions across technology, financial services, and manufacturing sectors.

Beyond immediate job creation, the program nurtures a generation of tech-savvy professionals who can drive innovation in both the public and private sectors. With Malaysia targeting to become a high-income, innovation-led economy by the end of the decade, initiatives like KodeMyFuture serve as vital enablers of that vision.
