Petaling Jaya, 25 Nov 2025 – PIKOM, the National Tech Association of Malaysia, today announced five major strategic collaborations at its annual leadership summit, LEAD 2025, reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to talent development, AI innovation, and cross-border digital cooperation.

The event, officiated by Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital, brought together more than 400 C-level executives, policymakers, innovators and international delegates from China, Mongolia, and Southeast Asia.

Under the theme “Spark, Strategy, Scale”, the summit underscored how intelligent technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), cross-border market access and talent transformation are critical to building a resilient and globally competitive digital economy in Malaysia.

Five Strategic Partnerships Announced

A key initiative revealed, PIKOM and the Silk Route Group will accelerate cooperation in AI innovation, cybersecurity, data centres and digital trade, deepening Malaysia’s strategic role as a digital gateway between China and ASEAN.

To address talent development, PIKOM Academy and TM Digital Innovation are jointly developing a Talent Intelligence Platform, which aims to enable companies to better understand future skill needs, drive digital upskilling, and build a robust, data-driven talent pipeline.

Complementing this, PIKOM Academy is working with TalentCorp to promote the LiKES internship programme, backed by a RM 1 million allocation via the LiKES Matching Grant to support SMEs and start-ups in offering quality paid internships.

Meanwhile, GCC will establish its Malaysia Hub within PIKOM, This hub will support collaborations in AI, advanced computing, digital infrastructure and cross-border commercialisation.

On the leadership front, the PIKOM CIO Chapter has partnered with the Mongolia CIO Club, forging a cross-border network to support professional exchange, leadership development, and CIO-to-CIO collaboration.

In his keynote, Gobind said as Malaysia moves towards 2030, its digital future rests on three pillars; talent, trust and technology.

“Malaysia must grow a future-ready workforce, strengthen our digital governance, and embrace emerging technologies such as AI and quantum computing. I commend PIKOM and its partners for driving meaningful initiatives that advance these priorities and help shape a more resilient and globally competitive digital economy.”

PIKOM Chairman, Adjunct Prof. of Practice Alex Liew, highlighted that these collaborations represent the industry’s commitment to move from ambition to activation.
