KOTA KINABALU, 17 November 2025 – The second series of the Digital Scaling-Up Seminar for SMEs: Tech Up, Scale Up! continued in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, gathering more than 150 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from key sectors including manufacturing, services, and tourism.
Organised by SME Corp. Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP), the programme builds on the success of the first session held on 3 November 2025 in Kuala Lumpur.
The seminar aims to strengthen the capacity of local SMEs by optimising the use of digital technology to enhance business efficiency, productivity, and scalability — a key development focus for MSMEs under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13).

In his opening address, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Khairul Dzaimee stated,
“The Government is committed to creating a more progressive and resilient MSME ecosystem to achieve the target of 50% MSME contribution to the national GDP by 2030. Scaling efforts will be strengthened through capacity-building programmes, digitalisation, and business operations enhancement in collaboration with both government and industry players.”
“Through its agencies such as SME Corp. Malaysia, KUSKOP will ensure that digitalisation and technology elements are embedded across various programmes and initiatives throughout RMK13. This is aligned with the aspirations of the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030 in creating a holistic and comprehensive entrepreneurial development ecosystem.” He added,
Meanwhile, YBrs. Encik Rizal bin Dato’ Nainy, Chief Executive Officer of SME Corp. Malaysia, encouraged Sabahan entrepreneurs to remain informed about the initiatives available to them.
He highlighted, “Among the first steps entrepreneurs can take is registering for MSME Status and completing the SME Competitiveness Rating for Enhancement (SCORE). MSME Status verification facilitates access to targeted government support, while SCORE helps SMEs comprehensively assess their capability and competitiveness.”
This edition of the seminar was supported through strategic collaboration with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), and the Small and Medium Enterprises Association Malaysia (SAMENTA).
The seminar also featured a mini exhibition called Tech Spot, showcasing automation, e-commerce, digital finance, logistics, and business management solutions from 12 digital and technology solution providers.
