RIYADH, 22 SEPTEMBER 2025 - Strong performance highlights Malaysia’s design innovation and rising influence in the Middle East market

Malaysia’s furniture and interior design sector has achieved a landmark success at INDEX Saudi Arabia 2025, recording RM205.83 million in sales and surpassing its RM200 million target despite ongoing global trade challenges.

The results included RM14.6 million in immediate sales and RM191.2 million in potential sales, alongside 721 trade inquiries, underscoring robust interest from Saudi buyers.

Expanding Footprint in the Middle East

Led by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the delegation of 14 companies showcased high-quality products and innovative designs that drew attention from industry leaders across the region.

Participation was strategically aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 and preparations for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, positioning Malaysian firms to capture opportunities from Saudi Arabia’s rapidly expanding economy.

Pavilion Highlights

The Malaysia Pavilion featured six companies under MATRADE, alongside eight represented by partners such as CTCS Worldwide Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of the Malaysian Timber Industry Board) and the Malaysian Furniture Exporter, Manufacturer & Designer Association (MEDA).

“Our second year at INDEX Saudi Arabia has been a resounding success. The prime location of our pavilion attracted high-quality visitors and strengthened Malaysia’s reputation for design innovation,” said Khairul Nizam Moonier, Director of the Lifestyle & Sciences Section at MATRADE.

Growing Exports to Saudi Arabia

Malaysia’s furniture exports to Saudi Arabia continue to rise, reaching RM119.7 million in the first seven months of 2025, a 16.6% increase compared to the previous year.

“Amid US tariff shifts and wider geopolitical tensions, INDEX Saudi Arabia proved the right platform to deepen trade ties with the Middle East,” said Yazrin Syakhairi Mahlan, MATRADE Trade Commissioner in Jeddah.

Strengthening Malaysia’s Global Trade Position

MATRADE reaffirmed its commitment to helping Malaysian exporters diversify into high-potential markets, reducing reliance on traditional destinations while seizing opportunities in fast-growing regions like the Middle East.
