Ipoh, 1 July — The Platinum Business Awards (PBA) 2025 National Roadshow arrived in Ipoh, Perak, drawing nearly 100 prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs. The turnout reflected the high aspirations of Perak’s SMEs to scale their businesses and pursue national and global recognition.

PBA: Recognising Authentic Business Excellence

As a prestigious national award promoting business excellence, the PBA 2025 tour aims to bring nomination opportunities closer to local businesses across Malaysia. This initiative encourages SMEs to step beyond local markets and aim for national acclaim.

Celebrating Grounded and Visionary Entrepreneurs

Adun Pasir Pinji Goh See Hua described Ipoh as more than just a city of food and culture—it’s home to resilient and steady SMEs:

“Here, entrepreneurs are grounded and practical. They don’t blindly follow trends or chase hype. From traditional industries to brand transformation, they move forward steadily, step by step, showing a calm yet determined business spirit.”

Championing SME Voices and Fair Policy

Dr. Chin Chee Seong, President of the SME Association of Malaysia, noted the association’s efforts in voicing the challenges and needs of SMEs to the government:

“The recent implementation of e-invoicing, fuel subsidy adjustments, and the increase in service tax have all added to the operating costs of SMEs. However, in today’s highly competitive market environment, businesses find it difficult to raise prices freely.”

He also encouraged members to explore overseas markets via e-commerce platforms, stressing the association’s goal is collaborative progress rather than opposition.

PBA as a Badge of Excellence

Carlson Chia Ban Guan, President of SME Association of Ipoh, emphasised that receiving the PBA is a mark of trustworthiness, reliability, and significant impact in the business world. He noted it serves as both a proud milestone and an inspiring benchmark for other SMEs.

Encouraging Perak Enterprises to Compete Nationally

Dennix Yeow Wah Fuong, Organising Chairman of PBA 2025, stated that the awards—with 21 categories open to all industries—offer businesses a valuable opportunity to increase visibility, credibility, and market presence both locally and internationally.
