KUALA LUMPUR, 9 OCTOBER 2026 - The Malaysian Palm Oil Council’s business-matching programme connected 109 international buyers with 31 Malaysian suppliers, with strong participation from Africa highlighting growing export opportunities.

The Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) has generated RM573 million in potential sales through its BizMatch business-matching session at the Malaysian Palm Oil Forum Kuala Lumpur 2026 (MPOF KL 2026), connecting 109 international buyers with 31 Malaysian palm oil suppliers.

Held on 8 October at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, the session facilitated more than 400 structured business meetings, reflecting strong interest in developing new trade relationships and expanding market opportunities for Malaysian palm oil and palm-based products.

Connecting Malaysian Suppliers with Global Buyers

BizMatch brought together international buyers from Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia Pacific, North Africa, the Middle East and the Balkans, with Africa accounting for the largest representation.

MPOC Chief Executive Officer Belvinder Sron said BizMatch had become one of the most sought-after components of MPOF week, providing a direct link between industry engagement and commercial opportunities.

“BizMatch is where many of the connections established during MPOF translate into meaningful business discussions. This year’s participation and the RM573 million in potential sales demonstrate the value of bringing international buyers directly to Malaysia and connecting them with our suppliers,” she said.

Business discussions covered a broad range of Malaysian palm oil and palm-based products, from bulk palm oil to downstream products and higher-value derivatives for food and non-food applications.

Africa Remains a Key Export Market

Strong participation from Africa was particularly encouraging for MPOC, given the region’s growing importance to Malaysian palm oil exports.

Sub-Saharan Africa became the largest importing region for Malaysian palm oil in 2025, with imports reaching 4.1 million tonnes, representing a 12% increase from the previous year. The momentum continued into 2026, with exports to the region rising by 10% in the first eight months.

Belvinder said Africa remained a priority in MPOC’s market development strategy, with programmes such as BizMatch helping to strengthen existing trade relationships while connecting Malaysian suppliers with new buyers and markets.

Trade and Networking Visit Showcases Malaysia’s Palm Oil Industry

BizMatch formed part of MPOC’s flagship Trade & Networking Visit (TNV) programme, which brought international delegates from 26 countries to Malaysia.

As part of the programme, delegates visited an oil palm plantation and mill complex on 6 October, gaining first-hand insights into Malaysia’s palm oil production practices, sustainability initiatives and industry capabilities.

The visit provided an opportunity for international buyers to better understand the country’s palm oil industry and the products and capabilities available from Malaysian suppliers.

MPOF KL 2026 Draws Strong Industry Support

The BizMatch session followed the MPOF KL 2026 conference on 7 October, which attracted more than 650 industry participants and received sponsorship support from 34 Malaysian companies.

Held under the theme “Sustainable Growth in an Era of Geopolitical Realignment”, the forum featured discussions on global trade, sustainability, emerging demand centres and the outlook for the oils and fats industry.

Together, MPOF KL, TNV and BizMatch reflect MPOC’s continued efforts to strengthen international trade engagement and expand market opportunities for Malaysian palm oil and palm-based products.
