Kuala Lumpur, May 2, 2025 – At Axiata Arena, the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) congratulates the Ministry of Human Resources for the impactful organisation of the National Labour Day 2025 celebration. Under the banner of “Pekerja KESUMA Bangsa”, the event succintly summarises the Government’s unwavering commitmentto worker dignity and welfare under the MADANI administration.
As Prime Minister Dato Sri Anwar Ibhrahim proclaimed that “one-room-one-toilet housing is no longer suitable.”, FMM welcomes his call upon the call to action towards improving worker and housing standards. As a response to that, the FMM quickly the government to initiate a National Action Plan on Labour Quarters in collaboration with KPKT, KESUMA, and local authorities. Key proposals of the plan include:
- Expedited approvals for CLQ/TLQ development;
- Incentives for employers and developers to build or upgrade housing;
- Public-Private Partnership models aligned with industrial strategies.
FMM also praised the Minister of Human Resources, YB Steven Sim, for his key initiatives, including:
- Reduction of unemployment to 3.1%;
- Rise in female labour force participation to 56.2%;
- Launch of the Kad Pekerja MADANI for integrated ID and social protection;
- Rollout of the AI-driven MyFutureJobs mobile app for job matching;
- Revival of the solidarity song “Tanpa Pekerja, Tiada Istana Megah.”
FMM shall double down its commitment regarding its collaboration with the government in building a robust and inclusive labour ecosystem that prioritises both economic and social progress
