Pos Malaysia Berhad is launching the SME Jumpstart Workshop 2026, a one-day programme designed to help Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) move beyond online marketplaces and build stronger direct-to-consumer (D2C) business models.
Set for 7 October 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, the workshop will focus on helping SMEs strengthen their owned sales channels, improve customer retention and profitability, and develop more resilient business models through digital commerce, logistics and fulfilment.
While online marketplaces have helped many SMEs gain visibility and generate sales, Pos Malaysia said the next stage of growth increasingly depends on businesses being able to own customer relationships, encourage repeat purchases and protect their margins.
The workshop is aimed at SMEs, entrepreneurs and aspiring founders looking to scale beyond marketplace platforms and build more sustainable, customer-led businesses.
From Sales Volume to Long-Term Profitability
According to Pos Malaysia Group Chief Sales Officer Charles William, businesses need to look beyond sales volume when building a profitable online operation.
“Growing a profitable online business means understanding your customer economics. Too many SMEs chase volume without looking at acquisition costs or repeat purchase rates.”
He said selling directly to customers through a business website, social media channels or repeat-purchase programmes can give SMEs greater control over customer data and relationships, while helping them improve margins and build greater resilience.
The workshop will therefore focus on the shift from simply generating orders to developing businesses around customer lifetime value, repeat purchases and brand loyalty.
“The SME Jumpstart Workshop 2026 is designed to give entrepreneurs the tools they need to make that shift from volume-chasing to profit-building.”
Building Stronger D2C and Digital Commerce Strategies
Organised by Pos Malaysia and supported by title partner ZUS Coffee, the workshop will bring together founders, business leaders, industry experts, ecosystem partners and supporting agencies.
The programme will cover areas including D2C growth, customer acquisition, brand building, digital readiness, SME funding, logistics enablement and sustainable business expansion.
Speakers will include Charles William, Datuk Wira Dr Azizan Osman of RichWorks and Edwin Wang, Co-Founder of Signature Market.
Through keynote presentations, founder stories, expert-led discussions and an interactive panel featuring live audience polling, participants will gain practical insights and real-world perspectives on scaling an SME.
Strengthening Logistics and Fulfilment
The initiative also reflects Pos Malaysia’s broader transformation from a traditional postal operator into a logistics, fulfilment and commerce partner for Malaysian businesses.
Its nationwide delivery network, retail presence and parcel logistics capabilities can support SMEs in areas such as direct online sales, fulfilment and delivery.
Pos Malaysia currently offers business customers end-to-end fulfilment covering storage, order processing, packing and shipment coordination, alongside real-time inventory and order visibility.
For SMEs building D2C operations, reliable fulfilment and delivery can form an important part of the customer experience, particularly as businesses seek to encourage repeat purchases and strengthen brand trust.
Getting Found in an AI-Driven Search Environment
The workshop will also examine how SMEs can improve their online discoverability as search behaviour continues to evolve.
Participants will be introduced to SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation), helping businesses understand how to increase visibility across traditional search engines, answer engines and AI-powered discovery platforms.
Beyond the learning sessions, attendees will have opportunities to connect with business leaders, ecosystem partners and supporting agencies covering digital transformation, compliance, SME financing, marketing, customer engagement, logistics, fulfilment and regional expansion.
Connecting SMEs With Business Support
The workshop is organised in collaboration with ecosystem partners across company registration, digital transformation, SME financing, customer engagement, marketing, export readiness and business advisory.
Partners include Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), FundedHere, Infobip, Luxana Technologies, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), NP Digital, RichWorks Consulting Group and SME Corp. Malaysia.
Participants will also receive a Brew Passport, allowing them to connect with exhibiting partners, explore business solutions and obtain expert guidance at each booth. Completed passports can be redeemed for an exclusive goodie bag containing complimentary products, special offers and partner giveaways.
Creating a Broader SME Engagement Platform
The inaugural SME Jumpstart Workshop marks the beginning of a broader SME engagement platform by Pos Malaysia, with future themed editions expected to be announced.
The initiative is intended to give Malaysian SMEs greater access to relevant expertise, business networks and practical solutions as they navigate digital commerce and seek sustainable growth.
For businesses looking to strengthen their direct-to-consumer strategies, the programme provides a platform to explore how customer relationships, digital readiness, logistics and fulfilment can work together to support long-term growth.
