Baker Tilly Malaysia has marked the 10th anniversary of its Roadmap to IPO initiative, celebrating a decade of helping Malaysian businesses understand and prepare for the capital markets.
The milestone was commemorated at Bursa Malaysia alongside a special edition of the Roadmap to IPO programme, bringing together around 100 guests including business chamber presidents, entrepreneurs preparing to list and capital market professionals.
The event also marked two decades of Baker Tilly’s independent IPO reporting experience, highlighting the firm’s longstanding involvement in supporting the quality and integrity of financial reporting underpinning Malaysia’s capital market.
The celebration returned to Kuala Lumpur, where the Roadmap to IPO journey began a decade ago, recognising the continued support and participation of Bursa Malaysia throughout the initiative.
Roadmap to IPO Expands Across Malaysia

What began as a Kuala Lumpur-based programme has grown into a nationwide platform over the past 10 years.
Baker Tilly has staged more than 20 roadshows, outreach sessions and industry engagements across major cities including Penang, Johor, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak, as well as in Singapore.
Through these engagements, the Roadmap to IPO initiative has helped business owners and aspiring issuers better understand the IPO process, listing requirements, governance expectations and opportunities available through Malaysia’s capital markets.
The initiative is aimed at helping businesses build greater readiness before entering the public market, from understanding regulatory expectations to strengthening the internal capabilities needed to operate as a listed company.
20 Years of IPO Reporting Experience
While the Roadmap to IPO initiative celebrates its 10th anniversary, Baker Tilly Malaysia’s involvement in Malaysian IPOs stretches back even further.
The firm’s experience dates to the 1990s, before it formalised its IPO reporting capabilities two decades ago with the establishment of its Transaction Reporting department.
The specialised team focuses on the independent reporting work companies undertake as part of their listing journey.
What began as a one-person team in 2006 has since grown into a 100-strong team of IPO reporting professionals, which Baker Tilly describes as the largest dedicated IPO reporting team in the country.
39 IPOs Completed Since 2020
Since 2020, Baker Tilly has completed 39 IPOs, including six in the first half of 2026.
All were led by its dedicated Kuala Lumpur team, making it the most active single IPO reporting office in Malaysia in terms of IPO reporting engagements completed during the period.
Baker Tilly is also one of only three accounting firms to have completed IPO mandates in each of the past seven years.
The firm said it has continued investing in its IPO reporting practice by adding dedicated partners and resources to safeguard the quality and integrity of financial reporting, which it views as essential to investor confidence and the long-term growth of Malaysia’s capital market.
Bursa Malaysia Highlights Importance of IPO Readiness
Delivering the keynote address at the anniversary celebration, Leong See Meng, Director, Securities Market, Bursa Malaysia, congratulated Baker Tilly on the milestone and highlighted the importance of developing Malaysia’s capital market.
He said initiatives such as Roadmap to IPO help companies better understand what is required to access the public market, including the responsibilities and expectations associated with becoming a listed company.
Leong also emphasised that developing a strong IPO pipeline depends not only on attracting companies to the market, but also on ensuring they are adequately prepared.
Strong governance, sound financial reporting and appropriate internal capabilities, he said, provide an important foundation for companies seeking to list and grow through the capital market.
Maintaining Financial Reporting Quality
Andrew Heng, Group Managing Partner of Baker Tilly, said the 10th anniversary of Roadmap to IPO represented a significant milestone for the firm.
While the initiative began 10 years ago, he noted that Baker Tilly’s commitment to companies seeking access to the capital markets stretches back 20 years through the establishment of its dedicated Transaction Reporting team.
“Today, Baker Tilly has the largest dedicated IPO reporting team in the country. Our growth reflects not only our investment in building specialised capabilities, but also our commitment to upholding the quality and integrity of financial reporting on which Malaysia’s capital market depends,” he said.
Dato’ Lock Peng Kuan, Managing Partner, Audit & Assurance of Baker Tilly, added that Malaysia has become one of Southeast Asia’s leading IPO markets, not only in terms of the number of listings but also the funds raised and calibre of companies entering the market.
He highlighted the active and facilitative role played by Bursa Malaysia and regulators, including a consultative approach, clearer processing timelines and greater segmentation between the Main and ACE Markets.
“Against that backdrop, Baker Tilly has completed 39 IPO reporting engagements since 2020 from our dedicated team in Kuala Lumpur, the most active IPO reporting office in the country, including six in the first half of this year, with a healthy pipeline extending into 2027,” he said.
Supporting Malaysia’s Next Generation of Listed Companies
Baker Tilly said the significance of its IPO work extends beyond the number of mandates completed.
As independent Reporting Accountants, the firm’s role is to safeguard the quality and integrity of financial reporting, supporting the investor confidence needed for a healthy capital market.
The firm’s work has involved businesses across different sectors as they transition from privately held enterprises into publicly listed companies.
Looking ahead, Baker Tilly Malaysia said it will continue strengthening its IPO reporting capabilities, deepening its capital market knowledge and upholding the quality and integrity of financial reporting from early-stage preparation through to listing and beyond.
