During his opening speech, Dato’ Liew Bin shared that his vision for the term is guided by the tagline, “The Home of Retailers.” He emphasised that MRCA must be a home for every retailer, big or small, offering a place where members find value, build meaningful connections, and grow their businesses together.
To achieve this vision, he highlighted three key objectives for his tenure. The first is to grow the membership base to at least 1,000 members through a “Member-Get-Member” initiative, while actively building affiliations with key retail and F&B associations to expand collective representation from 1,000 to over 10,000 businesses.
The second objective is to enhance MRCA’s presence and influence in the market. This includes launching a podcast platform to share knowledge and highlight trends, strengthening engagement with key government agencies such as Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Kos Sara Hidup (KPDN), Tourism Malaysia, and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas), and revitalising its magazine to serve the broader retail industry.
The third objective focuses on emphasising MRCA member benefits. Key initiatives include launching the MRCA App as a dedicated marketplace, introducing the “Member Plus Campaign” for members to share vouchers, providing scholarships through the MRCA Foundation and Academy Division, and leveraging the new building at Icon City for enhanced training and collaboration spaces.
