A Niche Built on Aesthetics, Regeneration, and Confidence

BWMC has joined KL Wellness City as a strategic partner shaping the ecosystem. Howard explained, “We have secured the entire Block A (Level 2) to bring our expertise in aesthetic, plastic, and regenerative medicine.” This partnership enables BWMC to offer and guide patients through a comprehensive wellness journey.

“Our value is convenience, accommodation, recreation, and recovery,” said Howard. “KL Wellness City brings this together in one integrated space.”

With access to multiple medical faculties, labs, and a future 1000-bed international hospital in the pipeline, BWMC is helping shape an ecosystem that defines the best of wellness for Malaysians and international patients.

A Broader View of Wellness—Weight, Nutrition, Longevity

“Wellness is the focus, not vanity,” Dato’ Francis and Howard emphasised. “What we do isn’t just about beauty. It’s about self-empowerment, and mental health. When someone undergoes a procedure that helps them feel confident in their own body, it transforms their outlook.”

Howard cited breast surgery—one of BWMC’s primary services—as a key example of procedures often driven by psychological empowerment rather than purely aesthetic concerns. He noted that many patients report a significant increase in self-esteem and overall mental well-being post-operation.

BWMC’s  comprehensive approach to wellness is also the driver behind its expansion into metabolic health –  weight loss and nutrition. Howard shared, “Injectables GLP-1 receptor agonists, such as Ozempic and Mounjaro, are a  pivotal shift in the industry. We have observed clients losing between 6 to 8 kilograms, accompanied by a notable increase in energy levels.”

The same philosophy applies to skin health. “Our skin is our body’s largest organ,” said Howard. “We take supplements for our heart and liver. But what are we doing for our skin? BWMC’s aesthetic services—from lasers to injectables—support skin health, radiance, and confidence.”

Howard also highlighted a distinct generational shift in how these treatments are perceived. “Patients in their 20s are increasingly adopting wellness solutions as a proactive measure. For the younger generation preventive wellness is aimed at maintaining long-term quality of life.”

Along with medical aesthetics and weight loss, nutrition is a focus for BWMC. “Unhealthy eating habits can’t be fixed by injectables,” Howard noted. “We have nutritionists and educators for dietary guidance. The wellness journey starts with diet and discipline.”

While BWMC is not yet offering bariatric surgery, they acknowledge its relevance. “For the morbidly obese, procedures like Gastric Sleeve Surgery can be life-saving,” Howard explained. “But they require pre-op discipline and post-op support. Eventually, we may integrate it—but only when we’re fully equipped to support the patient journey end-to-end.”

Leading with Experience, Building for the Future

Behind this forward-looking vision is Dato’ Francis’s deep experience in the sector. “I’ve been in this business a long, long time,” he said. As Chairman of the Malaysian Group, he has helmed the group’s evolution from a boutique medical centre to a cornerstone of an integrated wellness ecosystem. As CEO, Howard is steering the next chapter.

While more than half of BWMC’s current clientele are Malaysians, a significant number are foreigners—many of whom fly in from Australia and New Zealand for plastic surgeries. “Malaysia has established a formidable reputation as a global medical tourism hub, and as the definition of wellness becomes more integrated, we are positioning the country as a world-class destination for comprehensive care,” Howard stated.

In going forward, Howard emphasised that aesthetic medicine should be viewed through the lens of holistic health rather than isolated cosmetic enhancement.

“Self-perception is a fundamental component of well-being. When an individual feels confident in their appearance, it often translates to improved mental health and higher productivity. Aesthetic treatments are ultimately about helping people feel well, live better, and extend their professional longevity.”

Looking Ahead: Malaysia’s Wellness Future

BWMC’s move to KL Wellness City at the end of 2026  marks the next phase of Malaysia’s wellness sector. Its presence in the medical suites tower complements the upcoming KL International Hospital, a facility set to rival Klang Valley’s biggest hospitals.

“KL Wellness City is buzzing,” Howard noted. “There are events all the time. It’s a hub that actively attracts businesses, practitioners, researchers, and wellness professionals. We’re proud to be part of that.”

For Dato’ Francis, the decision to move into Bukit Jalil years ago—when Pavilion Bukit Jalil had barely opened—was driven by a vision to bring wellness to the forefront. “We’re not just building a clinic. We’re building a new sector,” he said.
