Xero has unveiled XeroForce, a new AI-powered custom agent builder designed to help small businesses and accountants automate financial workflows without requiring technical or coding expertise.
Announced in Kuala Lumpur, the new platform allows users to create custom AI agents using simple natural language prompts, enabling businesses to streamline repetitive financial tasks and build scalable automated workflows across Xero and selected third-party applications.
Currently launched in alpha for invite-only customers, Xero says the platform is expected to move towards broader general availability later this year.
AI Automation for Small Business Finance
XeroForce has been developed to help businesses move away from time-consuming manual financial processes by allowing AI agents to manage workflows across accounting, compliance, reporting, and operational finance functions.
Unlike traditional automation tools that often require technical setup or coding knowledge, XeroForce is designed for accessibility, enabling accountants and SMEs to build customised AI workflows through conversational prompts.
According to Diya Jolly, the platform combines Xero’s financial expertise, verified data ecosystem, and AI capabilities to support more reliable and scalable finance operations.
“XeroForce is uniquely built for end-to-end financial operations, combining decades of Xero’s domain context, verified data, and AI innovation,” she said.
The company added that the system is intended to support “agentic workflows”, where AI agents can autonomously manage ongoing tasks and processes while still operating under human oversight.
Designed for Compliance and Financial Accuracy
One of the platform’s core differentiators is its accounting-specific architecture, which incorporates financial and compliance logic directly into the AI workflow system.
XeroForce has been built to support various financial operations including:
- Month-end closing processes
- Financial reporting workflows
- Tax document organisation
- Purchase order validation
- Payroll and payrun approvals
The platform also includes audit trail functionality, enabling every AI-generated action and workflow activity to be logged and traced for compliance purposes. This feature is particularly important for accounting firms and finance teams that require transparency, governance, and regulatory accountability in automated systems.
Supporting Accountants Managing Multiple Clients
Xero says the platform has been designed with accounting and bookkeeping firms in mind, particularly practices managing large numbers of clients simultaneously.
Unlike generic AI workflow tools focused on individual conversations or isolated tasks, XeroForce supports large-scale workflow management across multiple clients and operational environments.
The system also allows AI agents to remain active over extended periods, enabling workflows to continue operating in the background while waiting for events such as filing deadlines, approvals, or email responses.
According to Ben Kurtz, Senior Accountant at Nortons Business Advisors, the platform could significantly reduce the time spent on repetitive manual work.
“Being able to automate workflows across Xero and the apps we use every day, tailored to how our practice works, is a game changer,” he said.
Powered by Xero’s AI-Native Operating System
XeroForce is powered by Xero OS, the company’s AI-native financial operating system designed to support the next generation of AI-driven business and accounting workflows.
The operating system also powers JAX, Xero’s financial “superagent” platform focused on delivering automated financial insights and workflow orchestration while maintaining human oversight and decision-making control.
The company stated that all of its AI development initiatives continue to operate under its broader commitment to “Accountable Intelligence”, emphasising responsible AI deployment, transparency, and customer trust.
