The launch introduced the WiseDrive system, which integrated AI-driven inspections, sound recognition, visual analysis, and diagnostic data to help buyers and industry stakeholders better understand vehicle conditions for more informed decision-making and reporting when buying or selling used cars.
With used car sales in Malaysia reaching estimated annual figures of 800,000 units, driven by record-breaking total industry volume for new vehicles over recent years, the introduction of innovative technologies was timely in ensuring information about vehicle purchases was accurate, efficient, and holistic.
The system also provides individual sellers and used car dealers with an option to accurately depict the condition of their cars, allowing for fairer pricing, easier financing, faster stock turnover, and greater trust in the online market space.

“We are proud to be part of the WiseDrive ecosystem, which is built on a shared vision — using technology and data to improve transparency, efficiency, and trust within the automotive ecosystem. Through this partnership, we aim to pioneer WiseDrive’s expansion and localisation in Malaysia, while bringing strong product capability and regional experience to the local market,” said Hafiz Zubir, Country Manager for WiseDriveMalaysia.
The WiseDrive AI technology works by comparing visual and audio data against thousands of known problems detected and identified by the AI system, including issues that could not be inspected with human eyes and ears. It employs machine learning, computer vision, and acoustic processing technology to analyse 150,000 visual and 31 million audio datasets covering 8,245 car models and variants, including national brands Proton and Perodua from the time their models were launched in 1985 and 1994, respectively.
The technology delivered engine analysis that was 20 times more accurate than manual inspections through trained AI with access to more than 1.3 million engine sound samples and related faults. Human error was minimised by 95%, as inspectors only needed to upload photos and videos to the app during the inspection session, which was shortened by 75%.
The system also delivers a seamless end-to-end customer journey, featuring a two-minute booking process, a 90-minute inspection session, and an instantly available full report on the vehicle.
“Malaysia will be the first country for WiseDrive’s expansion into Southeast Asia with fully operations teams and supporting partners, in a country that not only is a car-producing nation, but is also a market with higher penetration of AI and technology consumption,” said Philipp Moeller, CEO for WiseDrive Southeast Asia.

He explained that WiseDrive’s expansion in Malaysia was designed to create commercial value across the ecosystem. By standardising inspection, diagnostics, and risk data, the system enabled banks, insurers, and dealers to price vehicles more accurately while reducing operational risks, while workshops benefited from a pipeline of verified inspection and repair jobs, positioning WiseDrive as a shared growth platform for Malaysian industry stakeholders.
“While we have seen the most progress of WiseDrive’s development in Malaysia, we are also expected to kick off pilot operations in Thailand and Indonesia in the first quarter of 2026,” he added.
