Puchong, 5 May 2026 — The Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec), together with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), successfully concluded the Sidec WorldStage Venture mission to Tokyo, Japan, from 25 April to 2 May 2026.

Anchored by Malaysia’s participation in SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, one of Asia’s premier startup and innovation conferences, the eight-day mission brought five Selangor-based deep tech and AI startups onto the international stage, facilitating investor connections, strategic partnerships, and high-level ecosystem engagements across Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific.

Five Selangor Startups Shine at the Malaysia Pavilion

Over three active exhibition days at Tokyo Big Sight, the Malaysia Pavilion hosted live showcases and business matching sessions with investors, corporates, and ecosystem players from across the globe. The Pavilion drew high-profile visits from Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike and Malaysia’s Deputy Chief of Mission, Zainal, a testament to the diplomatic and economic significance of the mission.

The five participating companies represented the breadth and depth of Selangor’s technology ecosystem:

  • Pixelence Sdn Bhd (Health AI) — Developer of an AI-predictive model that generates synthetic contrast-enhanced brain MRI images from standard scans, eliminating the need for gadolinium-based dyes. The company has completed clinical trials at Kanser Negara and HUSM and has filed a patent for its core technology.
  • CitySage Sdn Bhd (Urban AI / Smart Cities) — An urban intelligence firm fusing AI and Human Intelligence to enable smarter urban planning and resource management. CitySage arrived at SusHi Tech with an active JETRO collaboration involving Mitsubishi, a proof-of-concept engagement with Deloitte Japan, and an MoU with YTL AI.
  • Rymba (Stream Capital Sdn Bhd) (Climate Tech) — An environmental intelligence platform using AI, drones, and satellite data to map, monitor, and manage urban trees and green assets for smart cities and forest management authorities. Rymba holds an active partnership with Perbadanan Kemajuan Perak (PKNPk) for reforestation and urban forest management.
  • WyseTime Technologies Sdn Bhd (AI / Computer Vision) — A video analytics company that converts existing CCTV infrastructure into actionable business intelligence across retail, manufacturing, logistics, and smart city applications. WyseTime holds a Malaysia Digital status and is backed by NVIDIA Inception and Microsoft.
  • PAIX Tech Sdn Bhd (Enterprise Finance AI) — An AI agent platform automating non-trade payments and financial operations for large enterprises, integrating seamlessly with existing ERP systems. PAIX entered the mission on the back of securing five enterprise AI contracts in Q1 2026.

The delegation was also given a dedicated Malaysia Tech Spotlight session on the SusHi Tech Mini Stage, where Sidec and MDEC presented Malaysia’s technology landscape, complemented by three-minute pitches from all five participating startups to an international audience of investors and industry leaders.

Co-Organising Asia’s Innovation Agenda

Beyond the exhibition floor, Sidec played a central role in shaping the regional innovation narrative. Sidec co-organised the Asia MirAI Day 2026 at the Tokyo Innovation Base — a landmark convening of innovation ecosystem builders from Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Japan, centred on cross-border collaboration in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

Sidec also co-organised the Industry Networking Night alongside MDEC, and led the flagship Rise & Pitch: Startups Pitching & VC Connect (Tokyo Edition) — a curated pitching and investor-matching session that gave Malaysian startups direct access to venture capital networks across Japan and Asia-Pacific.

High-Level Meetings with Global Innovation Partners

The mission included a series of high-level bilateral engagements with leading global and Japanese innovation organisations. Key highlights included a meeting with Plug and Play CEO and Founder Saeed Amidi, one of Silicon Valley’s most prominent early-stage investors, as well as sessions with Endeavor Japan, RX Japan, Tokyo SME Support, NSW Inc., and the Cambridge Innovation Centre (CIC).

Sidec representatives also participated in the GovTech Conference Global and the ASEAN Market Entry Forum, exploring pathways for Japanese startups to enter Southeast Asian markets. An opening engagement with MATRADE Tokyo set the groundwork for trade facilitation linkages between Selangor-based companies and the Japanese market.

“This mission was never just about visibility, it was about putting our startups in the room with the right people. Seeing them pitch, connect, and hold their ground alongside the best from across Asia reinforced exactly why internationalisation is central to what we do at Sidec,” said Yong Kai Ping, CEO, Sidec.

Looking Ahead

The Sidec WorldStage Venture mission to Japan is part of Sidec’s broader strategy to accelerate the internationalisation of Selangor’s startup ecosystem and advance the state’s digital economy agenda. Sidec will continue to facilitate market access, investor linkages, and strategic technology partnerships for Selangor-based companies in key global markets.
