KUALA LUMPUR, 17 OCTOBER 2025 - E-commerce platform marks 10 years of empowering entrepreneurs with insights, tools and inspiration ahead of the year-end shopping season

Shopee Malaysia celebrated a decade of supporting local entrepreneurs with its latest event, Shopee Rai Lokal: Sembang Niaga, bringing together more than 100 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from across the country.

The event, held in Kuala Lumpur, celebrated the journeys and achievements of local sellers while equipping them with practical knowledge and digital tools to prepare for the busy year-end shopping period. Participants gained insights into marketing, logistics, and technology solutions tailored to help them thrive during Shopee’s 11.11 and 12.12 campaigns.

Empowering Local Businesses for 11.11 and Beyond

At the event, Shopee showcased its RM50 million MSME Growth Package, an initiative designed to help sellers scale their businesses through expanded marketing opportunities, logistics support, and AI-driven tools.

Workshops covered topics such as:

  • Using AI Modify for You Image Assistant to improve product visuals
  • Expanding sales across Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines via the Shopee International Platform (SIP)
  • Leveraging Shopee Live and Affiliate Marketing Solutions to reach wider audiences

Participants also learned from hands-on sessions and interactive booths focused on Shopee’s ecosystem of services — from Fulfilled-by-Shopee to Shopee Ads and ShopeeUni training programmes — helping entrepreneurs strengthen their digital readiness.

Shopee Malaysia’s Country Director, Saovanee Chan-Somchit, said the event was about preparing local businesses for success in the crucial year-end season.

“These final months are vital for MSMEs. Through initiatives like Shopee Rai Lokal and Shopee University, we aim to ensure every seller feels supported and confident to grow sustainably in the digital economy,” she said.

Recognising Outstanding MSME Sellers

The event also honoured the Top 10.10 MSME Sellers, celebrating outstanding performance during Shopee’s 10.10 Brands Festival. Winners received exclusive rewards such as smartphones, holiday packages and vouchers.

Among them was James Lau, who expressed his gratitude:

“I’m honoured to be recognised as a Top MSME Seller. Shopee has given me the opportunity to grow my business and connect with customers across Malaysia.”

Stories of Resilience and Growth

The celebration highlighted inspiring journeys from members of the Shopee Bintang Community Group, where entrepreneurs shared how e-commerce transformed their livelihoods.

One such story came from Edward Wong, founder of HomeDecoStore, who turned a career setback into opportunity:

“Losing my job as a flight instructor during the pandemic pushed me to start small online. Through Shopee Live, I was able to engage directly with customers and design products that align with their values.”

Similarly, Syahmi Kamal from MulaShopee described Sembang Niaga as a “fun and eye-opening experience,” praising Shopee’s efforts to make business management simpler through AI tools and funding programmes.

Building a Future of Inclusive Growth

As Shopee marks 10 years in Malaysia, the platform remains committed to helping local MSMEs digitalise, expand globally, and build sustainable growth. Beyond its festive campaigns, Shopee continues to strengthen its seller ecosystem through technology, training, and community collaboration.

“The energy and optimism we’ve seen from our sellers reflect Malaysia’s entrepreneurial spirit,” Chan-Somchit added. “Our goal is to keep building a community where every entrepreneur — no matter where they start — can grow confidently and sustainably in the digital economy.”
