FinanceAsia recognises OCBC Malaysia’s leadership in SME banking, highlighting its digital innovation, faster financing solutions and cross-border banking capabilities that support business growth.

OCBC Malaysia has been recognised as the Best Bank for SMEs in Malaysia (International category) at the FinanceAsia Awards 2026, marking its third consecutive win and reinforcing its position as a leading banking partner for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The award recognises the bank’s continued investment in digital banking solutions, tailored financing and cross-border banking services that help Malaysian businesses improve productivity, manage cash flow and expand into regional markets.

Driving SME Growth Through Digital Banking

OCBC Malaysia has strengthened its SME banking proposition by introducing digital solutions that simplify business operations and improve access to financing.

One of its latest initiatives is the direct integration of the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia’s (LHDN) MyInvois Portal with OCBC Velocity, making OCBC Malaysia the first bank in the country to offer this capability.

The integration helps businesses comply with Malaysia’s e-Invoicing requirements while reducing administrative work through a seamless digital process.

Additionally, the bank has cut the approval and disbursement time for working capital loans by more than 50%. As a result, SMEs can access financing faster, respond to business opportunities more quickly and strengthen cash flow management.

Supporting Entrepreneurs Beyond Financing

Beyond digital banking, OCBC Malaysia continues to support entrepreneurs through its Serial Entrepreneurs Programme.

The programme offers customised banking solutions and dedicated relationship managers for business owners operating multiple companies.

To date, the initiative has provided more than RM2 billion in financing, helping entrepreneurs grow existing businesses while pursuing new ventures.

Commenting on the achievement, OCBC Malaysia’s Head of Emerging Business Chan Kok Leong said the award reflects the trust SMEs place in the bank.

He added that OCBC Malaysia remains committed to supporting businesses through financing solutions, digital innovation, market insights and regional connectivity as companies navigate an increasingly competitive business environment.

Expanding Regional Business Opportunities

FinanceAsia also recognised OCBC Malaysia’s ability to support businesses expanding beyond Malaysia.

The bank leverages its network across ASEAN and Greater China to provide cross-border banking, trade finance and treasury solutions for SMEs operating internationally.

Meanwhile, businesses using FX Online, OCBC Malaysia’s digital treasury platform, can manage foreign exchange transactions, make same-day cross-border payments and reduce currency risks more efficiently.

In 2025, the platform facilitated more than USD1.3 billion in foreign exchange transactions, reflecting growing adoption among businesses involved in regional trade.

Adding to a Strong Year of Recognition

The latest accolade adds to several SME banking awards received by OCBC Malaysia in 2026.

These include:

  • Best SME Bank in Malaysia by the Global Finance SME Bank Awards
  • Best Overseas SME Bank in Malaysia by The Digital Banker Global SME Banking Innovation Awards
  • Best in Treasury and Working Capital – Malaysia SMEs by The Asset Triple A Treasurise Awards

Now in its 30th year, the FinanceAsia Awards recognise financial institutions across Asia for excellence in innovation, leadership, customer service, resilience and overall performance.

For OCBC Malaysia, the latest recognition underscores its continued focus on helping SMEs embrace digital transformation, improve financial resilience and capture growth opportunities both locally and across the region.
