Kuala Lumpur, 12 December, 2025 – The Malaysian Government introduced the 600-litre petrol subsidy, which has significantly reduced the financial burden for full-time e-hailing drivers across the country. The initiative has become an essential support mechanism for drivers who depend on consistent fuel usage to sustain their daily work.

One of the drivers benefiting from the subsidy is Syamil Hanifi, an experienced Maxim partner-driver who has been driving full-time with the platform for over a year. Syamil shared that the subsidy has made a meaningful difference in helping him manage his daily expenses.

“It really helps me save day by day. The difference may not look big, but without the subsidy, it definitely feels more expensive. Before it was RM2.05, and now it’s RM1.99  it still makes a difference even if it’s not much.” said Hanifi.

“When you’re driving full-time as I do, every cent matters. I pump petrol almost every day, and the savings that come from the subsidy add up over the week and over the month. Without it, I would feel the weight of the fuel cost much more.” Hanifi continued.

As a full-time driver, the subsidy is really beneficial for him in order to provide services during trip demand and peak hours. The subsidy is ensuring that he is not required to spend much as fuel is one of the highest operating cost for an e-hailing driver. Such subsidy is assisting him to reduce operational cost and ultimately helping him to save more money from his daily income. This is indeed a huge boost for him financially.

He added that being a full-time Maxim driver means fuel support is crucial for him to continue driving as his primary source of income, enabling him to fulfil rider demand and maintain a stable earning cycle.

“With the amount of time we spend on the road, having this kind of support helps us continue serving passengers and maintaining a steady income. The subsidy that is being provided is assisting me in my daily operations. I appreciate that the government recognises the demands of e-hailing work, and I hope this kind of support can continue so that drivers like me can keep delivering good service to the community.” Hanifi shared.

Partners-driver appreciates the subsidies initiative that the government has recognized as addressing the needs of gig-economy drivers and supporting measures that help stabilize their operational costs. The company remains committed to empowering its driver community and ensuring they continue to have access to opportunities that support sustainable, long-term income.
