Kuala Lumpur, 5 May 2026 — Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation has announced a strategic collaboration with CBI to integrate CBI’s European Market Intelligence (MI) resources into the MADANI Digital Trade Platform under a digital partnership programme.

CBI, part of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, supports small and medium companies by providing training, market information and advice to improve product quality and meet European standards. Its goal is to promote sustainable trade that benefits both low and middle-income countries and European markets.

“This initiative aims to empower Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and exporters with critical market insights to support their expansion into European markets as well as access to reliable and high-quality market information that pertinent to SMEs seeking international growth. By giving access to European market intelligence, we will reinforce Malaysian SMEs’ capabilities to export value-added and niche products to Europe,” said Abu Bakar Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE.

“We are pleased to collaborate with MATRADE as this initiative is also aligned with CBI’s mission to partner with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and their ecosystems to strengthen, among others, their social and environmental sustainability. The collaboration seeks to promote sustainable trade, generate quality employment opportunities, and foster the empowerment of women and youth,” said Edouard van der Haas.

The initiative provides access to a robust library of resources, including approximately 250 market studies, 30 news updates, and 25 webinars produced annually by CBI. These materials focus on key sectors such as agriculture, consumer products and services.

Addressing this gap, CBI’s Market Intelligence service provides comprehensive, up-to-date data and analysis on European market trends, requirements and opportunities. Through this partnership, the MADANI Digital Trade Platform will serve as a key business support hub, delivering these insights directly to Malaysian businesses.

The collaboration leverages CBI’s Market Information iframe technology, enabling a simplified version of the CBI platform to be embedded directly within MDTP. This integration allows users to access extensive market research conveniently without leaving the platform.

Through this enhanced access, SMEs can gain insights into high-potential European markets for specific products and services, effective market entry strategies and distribution channels, regulatory requirements and compliance standards, and methods to identify and connect with potential buyers in Europe.
