Serdang, 19 May 2025 – The Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) has officially wrapped up its most successful edition to date, setting a new benchmark with RM1.72 billion in potential sales, 294,062 visitors, and a strengthened national commitment to next-generation mobility.

Held from 9 to 15 May 2025 at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), MAS 2025 was organised by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) with support from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). Themed “Shifting the Future,” this year’s show highlighted Malaysia’s position as a regional leader in future mobility as it assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.

Record-Breaking Engagement and Sales Potential

MAS 2025 drew an all-time high 294,062 visitors—a 31% increase over the previous year—fueled in part by a two-day extension due to overwhelming demand. Over the course of the event:

  • 3,194 new vehicle bookings were recorded
  • 1,512 trade-in prospects were logged
  • 18,824 sales leads were generated

The event hosted more than 200 exhibitors and showcased over 500 vehicles across 50,000 sqm, establishing itself as Southeast Asia’s largest consumer-focused auto show.

Electrifying the Future: EVs Take Centre Stage

With electrified vehicles (EVs, PHEVs, and HEVs) making up 51% of all models displayed, MAS 2025 clearly reflected the industry’s shift toward greener mobility. A total of 48 vehicle launches and previews took place during the show, alongside 10,916 test drives—highlighting public appetite for cutting-edge automotive experiences.

A key highlight was the official launch of the Voluntary NxGV Labelling Scheme, a certification program for vehicles that meet high standards in sustainability, safety, and innovation—a major milestone in Malaysia’s journey toward cleaner transport technologies.

ASEAN Unity Drive 2025: A Regional Breakthrough

MAS 2025 made regional history with the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025, a 10,432-kilometre electric vehicle (EV) convoy across nine ASEAN nations. Officially recognised by ASEAN Records, the drive showcased Proton’s e.MAS 7 and X Series models, proving that seamless, long-distance EV travel is already possible across Southeast Asia—where charging infrastructure is in place.

This initiative supports cross-border EV standardisation and reinforces Malaysia’s leadership role in shaping the region’s green mobility ecosystem.

Future Technologies in Action

The show also spotlighted emerging innovations, including:

  • Urban Air Mobility (UAM) demonstrations that preview Malaysia’s ambition for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) transport
  • The debut of ADaPTIV, a real-time predictive intelligence platform co-developed by MARii and PETRONAS, designed to enhance vehicle performance, fleet management, and cost efficiency

Specially curated theme days—Education Day, Women’s Day, and Green Day—further amplified the event’s commitment to public engagement, sustainability awareness, and talent development.

Leadership Remarks and the Road Ahead

At the closing ceremony, Datuk Dr. Aminar Rashid, Chairman of MARii, extended heartfelt thanks to key partners including Perodua, Proton, Chery, Modenas, Honda, and ORS Technologies, whose collaboration was instrumental to the show’s success.

Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of MARii, noted:

“MAS 2025 was about more than cars; it was about building bridges between innovation, public engagement, and industry transformation. As we pursue leadership in EV and next-gen vehicle production, we’re empowering every part of the mobility value chain.”

YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, added:

“As Southeast Asia’s second-largest automotive market and ASEAN Chair, Malaysia is poised to lead the regional transition to green and next-generation vehicle technologies. MAS 2025 is a key milestone in advancing that objective and reinforcing our position in the regional e-mobility supply chain.”

Looking Forward: MAS Returns in 2027

Following its record-breaking success, the Malaysia Autoshow will return in 2027, with plans for a potential new venue to offer an even greater experience for both visitors and industry stakeholders. MAS continues to grow as ASEAN’s premier platform for mobility innovation, investment, and clean transport solutions.
