Kuala Lumpur, 24 March 2026 – For many local companies, the opportunity to collaborate with large corporations is often perceived as complicated due to a lack of clear understanding of the registration process and the requirements that need to be fulfilled.
Chief Procurement Officer, Sr Azita Mohamed Tahir, delivered a briefing to vendors during the roadshow session.

Recognising this challenge, Malaysia Airports has taken proactive steps to encourage the involvement of local vendors by simplifying access to available opportunities, as well as strengthening project management with more transparent and inclusive processes. This effort reflects Malaysia Airports’ commitment to strengthening relationships with high-quality vendors who support operational excellence and long-term collaboration.

This initiative involves collaboration with various strategic partners, such as the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM), as well as financial institutions, including Credit Guarantee Corporation Berhad, to provide comprehensive technical, financial, and guideline support.

Malaysia Airports, together with CIDB organized the “Connect & Collaborate Vendor Roadshow” at selected airports in Peninsular Malaysia as well as in Sabah and Sarawak. The program provided vendors with the opportunity to receive briefings on procurement processes, obtain registration guidance and technical support, and understand how to use the e-procurement platform. Vendors were also able to interact directly, raise confusion regarding project requirements, and reduce uncertainty during registration, becoming more confident and prepared to take advantage of long-term opportunities.

A total of 812 vendors, including contractors, registered consultants, engineering firms, supplier and service companies, SMEs, and Bumiputera companies, participated in the program. The participation included vendors from Kelantan, Pahang, Terengganu, Penang, Kedah, Perak, Perlis, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, and Sarawak.

The program contributed to a significant increase in Malaysia Airports’ vendor network, reaching 3,287 registered vendors as of 28 February 2026. With 98.3 per cent from local companies, this reflects growing confidence among SMEs and Bumiputera vendors to seize business opportunities within the airport network.

Efforts to strengthen vendor development will continue with training sessions starting in the second quarter of 2026, as well as technical guidance for clearer tender processes that comply with requirements. This ensures that local vendors, SMEs, and Bumiputera vendors can compete professionally and grow as long-term strategic partners.

The site visit session provided an informative briefing to vendors on airport operations.

The momentum of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 has increased passenger numbers and operations, opening more opportunities for infrastructure, maintenance, digitalisation, and sustainability. With 39 airports handling over 100 million passengers in 2025, tender participation is expected to increase in line with expanding operational needs.
