Strategic collaboration to showcase Libyan firms, boost capacity building, and attract investment at LEES 2026 in Tripoli

The Libya Energy & Economic Summit (LEES) has joined forces with the Libyan Council for Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy (LCOGRE) in a new partnership designed to strengthen Libya’s private-sector energy ecosystem and empower local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Under the agreement, LCOGRE will leverage the LEES platform to showcase Libyan companies, connect with investors, and drive technology transfer and capacity building. The initiative highlights a shared commitment to ensuring that Libyan firms take centre stage in the country’s evolving energy landscape.

The next edition of LEES will be held in Tripoli from the 24th to the 26th of January 2026, bringing together government leaders, global investors, and energy companies across oil, gas, renewables, infrastructure, and finance. The previous summit in January 2025 attracted 1,500 participants representing 490 companies from over 30 countries.

Founded in 2012, LCOGRE has grown from 35 to over 150 corporate members by 2021. The council represents Libyan SMEs across multiple sectors, including oil and gas, logistics, technology, renewable energy, and services, while actively advocating for private-sector growth, research, and sustainable innovation.

Dr Khaled Ben Othman, Chairman of LCOGRE, has long championed private-sector engagement, notably during LEES 2025 where he underscored the importance of balancing Libya’s natural resources with renewable integration, infrastructure investment, and clean technology adoption.

“LCOGRE represents the heartbeat of Libya’s energy private sector, and LEES is proud to provide a platform where local companies can connect with international partners and advance their ambitions,” said James Chester, CEO of Energy Capital & Power. “This partnership is about putting Libyan firms first and equipping them to thrive in a competitive global energy market.”

Through this collaboration, LEES commits to supporting Libyan SMEs across the full energy spectrum, from upstream exploration to clean-energy services, enabling them to play a leading role in Libya’s long-term energy transformation.
