East Coast entrepreneurs encouraged to embrace innovation, digitalisation and global expansion
The 2025 Platinum Business Awards (PBA) National Roadshow made its mark in Kuantan, Pahang this week, drawing close to 100 local entrepreneurs, SME leaders and industry professionals. The event showcased the region’s growing drive towards innovation, transformation and global market reach.
Organised by the SME Association of Malaysia, the roadshow aims to extend the reach of one of the country’s most prestigious SME award platforms to regional business communities. This year, the PBA introduces 21 award categories, covering a wide range of sectors from manufacturing and services to green transformation and technology.
Dato’ Haji Mohammad Fakhruddin, ADUN Bebar, said in his speech,
“The arrival of PBA in Kuantan underscores the city’s status as a vital economic hub on the East Coast. This city is home to resilient and forward-thinking entrepreneurs who continue to grow and transform – from traditional trades to technology-driven sectors PBA is not just about celebrating success; it serves as a powerful platform to boost visibility, expand networks, and stimulate nationwide SME collaboration.”
Paving the Way for East Coast SMEs
According to Dr. Chin Chee Seong, National President of the SME Association of Malaysia, the association continues to push for stronger policy support and practical resources to empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs) nationwide.
He claimed that in order to obtain more resources and legislation support for SMEs, the association consistently fortifies its ties with the government and relevant organizations. Its vast nationwide branch network has allowed it to establish a robust service infrastructure that closely supports its members and is genuinely connected to businesses.
He emphasized that the association’s greatest worth is found in its capacity to offer members real, helpful assistance – not just knowledge but turning into a reliable partner in their growth journey.
Dato’ Simon Wong, President of the Pahang SME Association, stressed that businesses must continually adapt by embracing new technologies and stepping beyond comfort zones. He added that artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as an unassailable force of change as the 21st century goes on. Companies need to proactively adopt AI and incorporate it into every facet of their operations, from management and finance to production, logistics and sales.
The AI transformation is no longer an option but a necessary path for the future of business.
Why PBA Matters

“PBA is more than just an award; it’s a platform. It helps businesses stand out in a competitive market, enhances credibility and reputation, and opens doors to both local and international opportunities,” he said.
