RM1 Million in Business Opportunities

IMMERSE KL x CelcomDigi 2025, a flagship programme by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), has generated over RM1 million in tech opportunities for local companies.

Over two days, 555 attendees explored cutting-edge innovations in extended reality (XR), virtual production, and immersive storytelling. In total, the event brought together 32 exhibitors and 25 speakers, including CelcomDigi, FreeDome, Experiential Design Team, Revenant Reverie, and FaBu Designs.

Launch of Malaysia’s First Immersive Tech Association

Importantly, the event also marked the launch of the International Interactive & Immersive Society (i3S). This is Malaysia’s first dedicated immersive technology association. Its mission is to foster collaboration, develop talent, drive commercialisation, and support policy development in AR, VR, MR, XR, simulators, and AV hardware.

During the event, Monolith Technologies and Virtualtech Frontier (VTF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create next-generation XR experiences.

Furthermore, a Strategic Roundtable with Meta Reality Labs brought together leaders from government, academia, and industry to discuss immersive technology in education, training, and workforce readiness.

Driving Business Connections

Through the Matchworks Business Matching Programme, 17 Malaysian solution providers connected with 43 SMEs and corporates. As a result, discussions focused on applying immersive technology to marketing, operations, and customer engagement.

“IMMERSE KL x CelcomDigi 2025 reaffirms Malaysia’s position as a rising powerhouse in immersive technologies within the region,” said Anuar Fariz Fadzil, Chief Executive Officer of MDEC. “By launching the nation’s first immersive technology association and cultivating strategic partnerships, we are demonstrating how innovation, talent development and global collaboration can further move the digital economy forward.”

Strong Industry Support

The event was backed by an extensive network of sponsors: Diamond Sponsors – Freedome by the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM), Revenant Reverie, Warnakala Studios, XR Associates; Gold Sponsors – UnBound Malaysia, CCACC (CloudTech Group), FaBu Design, Experiential Design Team; Silver Sponsors – Virtual X, Pixljaya Digital Media & Entertainment; and Bronze Sponsors – Monolith Technologies, Victory Forest Commercial, and SME Corp as the Matchworks Programme Host.

Looking ahead, IMMERSE KL will expand to Penang in 2026, bringing immersive innovation to Malaysia’s northern region before returning to Kuala Lumpur.
