KUALA LUMPUR, 28 OCTOBER – Exim Bank, a subsidiary of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad Group (BPMB Group), will strengthen Malaysian businesses’ capacity to compete internationally and adopt sustainable practices through over RM1 billion in strategic initiatives mandated by the Government under the National Budget 2027

Under Budget 2027, EXIM Bank has been allocated over RM1 billion in financing and export credit protection to help Malaysian businesses scale and expand globally. This initiative supports MITI’s trade mandate and contributes to BPMB Group’s broader RM7+ billion strategic mandate, strengthening exporter competitiveness while adhering to Bank Negara Malaysia’s Performance Measurement Framework (PMF).

Building Capacity and Expanding Export Markets

EXIM Bank’s export initiatives will support businesses as they build capacity, pursue overseas opportunities and manage the risks of international trade.

The Local Acceleration and Growth Programme (RM300 million) provides affordable financing for manufacturers, service providers, and local vendors to expand capacity, productivity, and competitiveness. By helping domestic businesses integrate into MNC and corporate supply chains—including strategic sectors under NIMP 2030—the programme deepens local capabilities and global network integration.

Building on this foundation, the Export Leap Scheme (RM500 million) will help Malaysian entrepreneurs and exporters develop the capabilities and skills to enter new international markets to expand their existing presence, including frontier and non-traditional destinations. The scheme will also support businesses in responding to heightened competition and rising  costs amid global economic and geopolitical uncertainty.

To support this market expansion, the Malaysia Global Connect (MGC) GoExport Cover with a RM5 million grant will provide aspiring and existing exporters with protection against commercial trade risks in new and non-traditional markets, enabling them to pursue overseas opportunities with greater confidence.

Financing Low-Carbon Business Initiatives

Alongside export development, EXIM Bank will support Malaysian companies’ transition towards more sustainable operations through Dana Kelestarian Alam 2.0 with a funding of RM400 million. The programme will finance low-carbon initiatives, helping businesses incorporate sustainability into their investments and operations while advancing Malaysia’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) objectives through responsible development finance.
