New initiative addresses career drop-off among Malaysian women with flexible work, training, and family support

Chin Hin Group Berhad has unveiled “Her Journey,” a transformative women’s empowerment programme designed to create a more inclusive, family-friendly work environment that supports women at every stage of their careers.

The launch, held at Menara Chin Hin, comes in response to Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) data showing a drop in female workforce participation, particularly among women aged 30 to 45—a critical life stage where professional aspirations often clash with family responsibilities.

Two-Pronged Approach for Lasting Impact

“Her Journey” aims to both retain and support existing women employees and facilitate career re-entry for those returning after a break.

The initiative includes flexible workplace policies, mentorship programmes, and on-site daycare to help women navigate career and family commitments. For those re-entering the workforce, it offers upskilling opportunities, networking sessions, and clear pathways back into employment.

“Our vision is to cultivate a workplace where inclusivity and equal opportunity are woven into the fabric of our culture. “Her Journey” is not just a programme—it’s a pledge to champion the ambitions of women at every stage of their careers,” said Chiau Haw Choon, Group Managing Director of Chin Hin Group Berhad.

Industry and Policy Leaders Voice Support

The launch featured a panel discussion with industry leaders, including Ng Wei Wei, CEO of UOB Malaysia, who noted that empowering women benefits not just businesses, but also families and the wider economy.

From a national policy perspective, Puan Mahuran Saro Sariki of TalentCorp Malaysia highlighted government initiatives such as the Women Career Comeback Tax Incentive and Jelajah Wanita MyWira, alongside Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) incentives, as vital in creating supportive systems for working women.

Beyond Professional Development

“Her Journey” also focuses on overall wellbeing, offering wellness resources and community-building activities to ensure women have the tools, networks, and support to thrive both professionally and personally.

With this initiative, Chin Hin Group aims to set a new benchmark for gender equity in Malaysia’s corporate sector, reinforcing its commitment to employee wellbeing and sustainable business growth.
