PETALING JAYA, 8 December 2025 – BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, proudly celebrates its third anniversary as the nation’s leading EV brand, with more than 25,000 BYD cars now on Malaysian roads. These vehicles represent more than just cars—they symbolize over 25,000 Malaysian families who are actively contributing to our society and nation.
Collectively, BYD owners help reduce over 62,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. This is equivalent to planting nearly 2.5 million trees every year—enough to circle Malaysia’s coastline more than 6 times. This achievement underscores the positive environmental impact BYD brings to the country.
BYD Sime Motors boasts Malaysia’s largest fully electric portfolio, with 7 models launched to date. Leading the charge is BYD ATTO 3, the volume leader in the competitive C-segment SUV category. In 2025, the lineup grew with two new models — BYD ATTO 2 and BYD SEAL 6 — plus a refreshed BYD SEAL. From entry-level to premium, sedan to SUV to MPV, BYD continues to meet the evolving needs of Malaysian drivers, offering a diverse range of EVs that combine cutting-edge technology, safety and affordability.

Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, said, “This is another milestone we’re truly proud of. To now have more than 25,000 Malaysians as part of the BYD family is incredibly rewarding, and it shows how quickly the EV movement is growing in our country.”
Our commitment to a greener, smarter and safer driving experience has brought us here, and we’re deeply grateful for the trust Malaysians have placed in us.” – Edgar Zhao
“We’re excited to continue this journey together and to keep bringing the best products and technology to Malaysia.” continued Zhao.
Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia, Sime Motors, added, “In just 3 years, BYD has become a key pillar of Sime Motors’ automotive portfolio. We have a strong foundation to drive EV adoption through our robust sales and aftersales network, advanced facilities, and skilled EV talent.”
“Our vehicles have transformed Malaysia’s roads, making electric mobility more accessible and practical for everyone. Thank you to all BYD owners in Malaysia for your trust and support. Exemplary ownership experience remains our top priority.” said Gan.
