More Than Just Chocolate Bars
There’s something mystical about walking into a place where chocolate is literally made from scratch, especially when it’s Malaysia’s most loved brand. I recently got the opportunity to tour the Cadbury Dairy Milk factory in Shah Alam, and yes, it was just as dreamy (and delicious) as it sounds.
Cadbury has been on a mission to make Malaysians fall in love with their chocolate all over again – and they’ve succeeded by just dropping a new, upgraded recipe for their classic Cadbury Dairy Milk. This version is richer, creamier and more chocolatey with a new chunk shape that’s more satisfying to bite into. There’s also a new 200g King Size bar, for those who don’t believe in “just one piece”.

See Mei Sin, Marketing Head of Mondelēz International (Malaysia & Singapore) said,
“Cadbury Dairy Milk has enjoyed a long heritage and brand love in Malaysia for more than 75 years. It has become a huge part in the lives of Malaysians, helping them to share connection, celebrate milestones and create memories to last. As we continue this journey, we’ve been listening closely to our consumers and evolving with them. Today, we are proud to build this continued connection with our fans with the launch of our new and more enriching Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates that are richer and more chocolatey with every bite.”
But it wasn’t just about tasting chocolate for me, though I did that plenty, too. Truly, what made the whole experience special was learning how everything comes together.
A Factory Full of Surprises

What really caught me by surprise? The sheer scale of the place. The factory sits on land spanning about 5 basketball fields! And behind those walls? Over 250 chocolate-makers craft each bar with precision and passion.
The factory has been Halal-certified by JAKIM since 1994 and adheres to stringent food safety and quality standards. What stood out to me is how Cadbury doesn’t just talk about sustainability – they act on it. They use renewable energy, recyclable packaging, and source their cocoa through the Cocoa Life initiative, a programme that supports ethical farming and sustainable practices across the supply chain. It’s chocolate you can feel good about.
It’s easy to take a chocolate bar for granted, but this tour gave me a real appreciation for the work that goes into every bite.
The Spirit Behind the Bar

Cadbury’s tagline has always been “a glass and a half”, and they mean that – not just in the milk, but in their generosity as well.
They use renewable energy, recyclable packaging, and source their cocoa through the Cocoa Life initiative.
One of the coolest things I learned about is “Kuih Raya Dari Hati”, a bake-for-charity initiative where Cadbury partnered with MyKasih Foundation. It empowers women from underserved communities to bake and earn during the festive seasons.
Since its inception in 2021, this programme has evolved into a nationwide effort that seamlessly combines festive traditions with meaningful social impact. Last year alone, they baked over 150,000 Cadbury chocolate tarts, which were donated to over 30 welfare homes. That effort even landed them in the Malaysia Book of Records!
Beyond its charitable roots, the initiative offered meaningful income-generating opportunities during the festive season and helped strengthen community ties.
A Chocolate Truck Tour? Yes, please!

To spread the word (and joy), Cadbury is launching a nationwide Purple Truck tour from 1st July to 31st August 2025. It’s basically a chocolate party on wheels – complete with treats, games and the new richer Cadbury Dairy Milk samples. Keep an eye out for it!
