The delegation comprised of SME Association of Malaysia National President Dr Chin Chee Seong, Malaysia Cross Border E-Commerce Association President Dato’ Danny Tan Eng Ching, SME Association of Labuan President Jefery Tan Yong Soon, ESG Association of Malaysia Treasurer Harry Tan Hui Ann, PIKOM Councillors Desmond Anil, Teo Kock Mon, Datuk Teoh Eng Kee, Sandy Woo, as well as other industry leaders and business representatives.

The study tour focused on applications of artificial intelligence, cross-border e-commerce strategies, and content-driven business models. Participants visited the Alibaba Xixi Headquarters, Alibaba Cloud Campus, Cainiao Logistics Campus, and various new retail environments in Hangzhou. Through on-site briefings and immersive experiences, participants learned how China’s leading enterprises leveraged digitalisation and intelligence to support large-scale global operations, while gaining a clearer understanding of cross-border and online business development trends.
Beyond ecosystem visits, the tour included several hands-on AI workshops led by instructors with extensive Alibaba backgrounds. The sessions covered practical applications of AI in marketing, content creation, customer service, and process optimisation, supported by real case studies demonstrating how AI helped businesses reduce costs, increase efficiency, and build new growth models.
In the future technology segment, participants explored smart factories, brain–computer interface demonstrations, and the world’s first fully AI-powered hotel. These experiences included contactless check-in, robotic delivery services, and AI-controlled room systems. This offered a tangible look at how emerging technologies would influence manufacturing, services, and consumer behavior over the next decade.
In the content e-commerce segment, participants visited a leading MCN (Multi-Channel Network) agency in Hangzhou and learned the logic behind viral short-form videos, livestream commerce operations, and content monetisation models. Observing China’s advanced content ecosystem provided useful insights into boosting brand exposure and enhancing online sales performance.
Throughout the four-day journey, participants engaged with various enterprises, building potential partnerships for future collaboration. The core objective of the study tour was to ensure that businesses not only “see the trends” but also “bring home executable strategies” through understanding Alibaba’s ecosystem, applying real-world AI practices, and learning the mechanisms of content-driven commerce.
Notably, all participants received an official certification, further enhancing their credibility and advantage in cross-border, e-commerce, and international cooperation efforts.
