KUALA LUMPUR, 18 DECEMBER 2025 (THURSDAY) – The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) successfully concluded its Export Acceleration Mission (EAM) to Cambodia from 25 to 27 November 2025, reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties with one of ASEAN’s fastest-expanding markets.

The mission recorded total sales of RM41.29 million through 104 business meetings arranged between Malaysian exporters and Cambodian buyers, signalling robust interest in Malaysian products across multiple sectors. This outcome was driven by demand for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), food and beverages, personal care and detergent products, agricultural inputs such as fertilisers and petroleum-based products.

Strengthening Bilateral Trade Engagement

A key highlight of the mission was the Malaysia–Cambodia Business Seminar held on 26 November 2025, which brought together senior government representatives and leading industry associations from both countries. The seminar was graced by His Excellency Sim Sokheng, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia, who welcomed MATRADE’s continued efforts in deepening bilateral economic engagement.

In his remarks, H.E. Sim Sokheng expressed Cambodia’s strong interest in expanding imports from Malaysia and conveyed the government’s aspiration to raise Malaysia and Cambodia’s bilateral trade to USD1 billion by the end of 2025. As of October 2025, Malaysia had already achieved USD960 million in trade with Cambodia, placing both nations firmly on track to reach this target.

Expanding SME and Entrepreneurial Collaboration

The seminar also featured insights from Oknha Te Taingpor, President of the Federation of Associations for SMEs of Cambodia (FASMEC), and Mr. Ren Sina, Board Director of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC). Both leaders emphasised the growing opportunities for Malaysian exporters to partner with Cambodia’s expanding SME ecosystem and rising young entrepreneur networks. Their participation reflects the strong institutional support for further strengthening Malaysia–Cambodia business linkages.

Malaysia’s trade engagement in Cambodia continues to gain traction amid rising consumer purchasing power, an expanding middle class and increasing demand for reliable, high-quality imported goods. This year’s mission further solidified MATRADE’s position as a key facilitator in connecting Malaysian businesses with strategic partners in Cambodia’s retail, distribution and industrial supply sectors.
