MAICSA & Veritas University College Seal Strategic MoU

Kuala Lumpur, 13 December 2025 — The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) today formalised a strategic collaboration with Veritas University College (VUC), underscoring the growing importance of governance as a cornerstone of sustainable institutions and societies.

Good governance is the lifeblood of sustainability — without it, corporations, institutions and even societies cannot endure,” declared MAICSA President YBhg Dato’ Akbar Moidunny at the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony.

The signing ceremony, attended by senior representatives from MAICSA, VUC and the BAC Education Group, highlighted a growing national recognition that governance is no longer a technical discipline restricted to boardrooms, but a moral imperative essential to transparency, justice and responsible leadership.

BAC Education Group Managing Director & Chief Future Officer Mr Raja Singham, in his opening remarks, underscored this point, noting that “education and industry must now work together to protect public trust. Governance is not merely about compliance — it is about doing what is right, even when no one is watching.”

Also present at the ceremony was MAICSA Chief Executive Mr Justin Anthony, who reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s governance talent pipeline.

“Our goal is not only to produce skilled-ready graduates,” said Mr Justin Anthony, “but duty-ready governance professionals who can uphold integrity in every decision they make.”

CGI Approval Strengthens Global Standing

In a development that adds significant weight to today’s partnership, MAICSA announced that the Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) has formally approved the collaboration between MAICSA and VUC for the Master of Corporate Law and Governance (MCLG) programme.

This approval allows graduates of the MCLG to be awarded dual accreditation such the Masters by VUC and Chartered Governance Professional by MAICSA upon completion. The endorsement signals the recognition of the programme’s academic rigor and its alignment with global governance standards.

Advancing Malaysia’s Governance Ecosystem

The MoU positions VUC as MAICSA’s sixth Collaborative Master’s Programme partner, setting the stage for deeper academic cooperation, knowledge exchange and the development of curriculum pathways that support entry into the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme (CGQP).

The agreement was formally exchanged between YBhg Dato’ Akbar Moidunny and Mr Raja Singam Co-Founder and Managing Director of the BAC Education Group, in the presence of Chief Executive Officer of MAICSA, Mr Justin Anthony and Mr Nadarajah Thiagendran of Veritas University College, in a brief ceremony.

The collaboration between MAICSA and VUC marks a pivotal moment in the development of  Malaysia’s governance ecosystem. By combining MAICSA’s professional expertise with VUC’s academic strength, the partnership aims to nurture future-ready leaders grounded in  integrity, transparency, and ethical decision-making.

This initiative reinforces MAICSA’s ongoing commitment to professional excellence while  supporting the nation’s broader goals of strengthening corporate governance standards  and building a sustainable talent pipeline for the future.
